CALLING THE ROLL II. DECLARATION OF PECUNIARY INTEREST AND THE GENERAL NATURE THEREOF None Declared. III. PETITIONS AND DEPUTATIONS MOVED by Councillor Evans, Councillor Windle THAT Bill Nippard, President and CEO of Renfrew Hydro Inc., be heard before Council to promote the Province of Ontario s new AffordAbility Fund. - CARRIED - Mr. Nippard advised that the Province of Ontario has launched a new program to help people improve the energy efficiency of their homes, while reducing their electricity bills and carbon footprints. The $100 million Affordability Fund, part of the province s Fair Hydro Plan, will support the free installation of energysaving LED light bulbs, power bars, improved insulation and energy-efficient air conditioners and refrigerators. The program is designed to help people who do not qualify for low-income conservation programs and who are unable to undertake energy efficiency improvements without support. Renfrew Hydro is ready to help but cannot do anything until you contact the Affordability Fund by calling or visiting to determine eligibility MOVED by Councillor Jamieson, Reeve Emon THAT representatives on behalf of Bell be heard before Council to highlight its Fibre Deployment Plan for the Town of Renfrew. - CARRIED - Brad Docksteader and Bryan Verreault, representing Bell, updated Council and the community on its plans to invest $7M in Renfrew from to build its fastest fibre technology to businesses and consumers. Bell is continuing to work closely with the Town to limit any adverse impacts caused by this construction program. A complete copy of Bell s presentation has been appended to the original copy of these minutes.

PETITIONS AND DEPUTATIONS cont d MOVED by Councillor Evans, Councillor Jamieson THAT Victoria Thomas, Business Retention and Expansion Coordinator, be heard before Council to update on departmental projects and initiatives. - CARRIED - Victoria, since joining the Town of Renfrew in late November, has been working with the Economic Development Committee and the Project s Leadership Team (comprised of community Volunteers) to design and roll out Renfrew s Business Retention & Expansion (BR&E) Project. This is a community-based economic development program with a focus on supporting existing businesses. It aims to gather information directly from local business owners and managers to develop strategies that support businesses so that jobs are retained and created. Also, a Community Profile has been developed and completed. The Community Profile is mainly intended for potential investors the document highlights both qualitative and quantitative data that provides investors with upto-date information putting Renfrew in a Market Ready position. REPORTS cont d MOVED by Reeve Emon, Councillor Windle THAT Director Asselin s report dated April 13, 2018 be received; and FURTHER THAT Council authorizes the Department of Development and Works to purchase a ton, 4-wheel drive, regular cab truck from Urban Ford at a cost of $40,163.93, inclusive of non-refundable HST MOVED by Councillor Evans, Councillor Windle - CARRIED - THAT Director Asselin s report dated April 13, 2018 be received; and FURTHER THAT Council authorizes the Department of Development and Works to purchase a /2-ton, 4-wheel drive, regular cab long (8 ) box truck from Urban Ford at a cost of $36,457.59, inclusive of non-refundable HST MOVED by Councillor Evans, Councillor Coulas - CARRIED - THAT the Renfrew Drinking Water System 2017 Annual Report prepared by the Ontario Clean Water Agency (OCWA), be received; and FURTHER THAT Robert Leblanc, on behalf of OCWA, be heard before Council to provide an overview of this report. - CARRIED - Robert Leblanc, Operations Manager, provided Council with the highlights of the Drinking Water System Annual Report. OCWA is proud to partner with the Town in the provision of clean and safe drinking water and for the efficient operation of the two treatment plants. VIII.
