6 6 PRESS RELEASE/MEDIAVRYSTELLING AMT SUID-AFRIKAANSE AGRIVOORUITSKOUINGS KONFERENSIE, 30 SEPTEMBER 2013: GLOBALE EN SA LANDBOU: PLAN TOT AKSIE 2014 Die destydse Department van Landbou, in samewerking met die Landbou Ekonomiese vereniging van Suid- Afrika (LEVSA), het die eerste Landbouvooruitskouingskonferensie (LANVOKON) in 1980 aangebied. Die doel van die konferensie was om landboubeleid, insetkoste en verskeie ander belangrike faktore in die verskillende landboubedrywe te bespreek. Nuwe idees en voorstelle ten opsigte van die bedrywe in die plaaslike mark was op die agenda en elke landbousektor het n spreker afgevaardig om huidige tendense toe te lig en n vooruitskouing van hul bedryf te gee. Hierdie vooruitskouings het weliswaar n groot invloed gehad op die landboumarkte, maar as gevolg van die opheffing van die Bemarkingsrade in 1997, is die laaste Lanvokon in 1998 gehou. AMT, onder leiding van Prof Herman van Schalkwyk, het egter in 2000 die moontlikhede en uitdagings om weer so n konferensie aan te bied geïdentifiseer en die eerste AMT Suider-Afrikaanse Agrivooruitskouings Konferensie is in 2001 gehou. Hierdie jaar sal die dertiende Agrivooruitskouingskonferensie plaasvind op 30 September 2013 by die WNNR konferensiesentrum in Pretoria. Produsente, produsente-organisasies, banke, universiteite, regeringsbesluitnemers, agribesighede en die media sal die konferensie bywoon. Sprekers, en hulle temas, vir vanjaar is onder andere Dr Roelof Botha met die onderwerp Ekonomiese Vooruitskouing: Plaaslik en Internasionaal Die Politieke vooruitskouing vir 2014 word deur Mnr Theo Venter van die Noordwes Universiteit aangebied. Die tema van Mnr Johan van den Berg se toespraak is: Weervooruitskouing 2014 en hoe die klimaatsverandering landbou beïnvloed in Suid-Afrika. Johan se aanbieding word jaarliks deur veral die boere in die gehoor gesien as een van hoogtepunte van die konferensie en daar word swaar op sy gevolgtrekkings rakende reënverwagtings vir die komende somer gesteun in die beplanning van hulle plantaktiwiteite vir die nuwe seisoen. Mnr Clem Sunter sal die megatendense van die 21ste eeu en hul uitwerking op die landbou bespreek. Talent: Die noodsaaklike gemene deler in die waardeketting van voeding sal bespreek word deur Mnr Thad Simons van die Verenigde State, wat die President van Novus Internasionaal is, die Dieregesondheid en Voedingsmaatskappy met verkope wat VSA $1 miljard oorskry. Thad is ook die President van die Internasionale Voedsel en Agribesigheidsbestuursassosiasie (IFAMA). Daar sal ook vanjaar n belangrike paneelbespreking wees, met die TV-aanbieder, Mnr Jeremy Maggs, as sameroeper. Dr Theo de Jager (Adjunk President van Agri SA) sal die leiding neem in n bespreking oor die grondhervormingskwessie en die invloed op voedselsekuriteit in die toekoms van Suidelike Afrika.. Nog n punt van bespreking tydens die paneelsessie is die minimumloonstakings en hoe dit die volhoubaarheid van en beleggings in Suid-Afrikaanse Landbou sal beïnvloed in 2014, met Dr John Purchase (Agbiz) en ander sprekers. Die donker kant van voedselsekuriteit sal bespreek word deur Mnr Pieter Esterhuizen van SENWES. Dr Ferdinand Meyer (BFAP) sal die Internasionale en plaaslike vooruitskouing vir 2014 vir die geïntegreerde landboukommoditeite bespreek.

7 7 Dié konferensie sou nie moontlik gewees het sonder gewaardeerde borge soos Landbouweekblad, Nedbank, Senwes Beperk, AFGRI, PwC, Nasionale Landboubemarkingsraad, NWK, PNT, Monsanto, Profert, Land Bank; SIQ, GTI, Unitrade826, Servest en Oranjerivier Kelders nie. Die dag se verrigtinge word afgesluit met n eg Suid-Afrikaanse spitbraai met gaskunstenaars en n prystrekking.
