1 RULES DEPTS 41C & 61C FOOD PREPARATION/CANNING Superintendents: Sarah Norris (734) , Beth Timmerman (734) , and Melissa Talbot 1. Please read general rules and regulation beginning on page Exhibits are to be entered between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. on Sunday prior to Fair. Judging will be done on Monday prior to Fair. 3. No one will be allowed in the department during judging. 4. Canning exhibits consist of 1 colorless glass jar. 5. No freezer jams or jellies. 6. Entries must be canned between August of the previous year and August of the current year. 7. Jars may be opened at the discretion of the judges. 8. ALL EXHIBITS must remain on display until 9:00 A.M. on Sunday following Fair. Please pick up exhibits between 9:00 A.M. and 11:00 A.M. on Sunday following Fair. 30 DEPARTMENT 91 CHELSEA COMMUNITY FAIR CHAMPION HOMEMAKER & JUNIOR HOMEMAKER Superintendent: Mary Tobin (734) This award will be given to the outstanding homemaker who is a Chelsea Community Fair exhibitor. To be eligible for consideration the contestant must comply with the following: 1. The exhibitor must be 18 years or older for Homemaker Champion, or 17 years and younger for Junior Homemaker Champion. 2. The exhibitor must register for this award with the Superintendents in the Home Economics departments in the Green Exhibits Building by 5 p.m. on Sunday prior to the Fair and must submit an entry form obtained from the Superintendent or the Fair office. 3. All exhibits must be made by the exhibitor and comply with the rules for exhibiting. 4. The contestant must enter at least FIVE of the following Departments: Antiques Canning Quilting Photography Arts & Hobbies Needlework Floriculture Food Preparation Agriculture Exhibits Machine Sewing The winner will be determined by total points accumulated. Four points will be awarded for each blue ribbon, three points for each red ribbon, two points for each white ribbon and two points for each champion rosette. The contestant will also receive 2 points for each Grand Champion and Best of Show received. The winner is eligible to enter the State Homemaker Championship and compete for the Grand Champion Homemaker Award with other county winners. 5. The Junior Champion Homemaker contestant must enter items in at least FIVE of the following Departments: Antiques Needlework Canning Photography Arts & Hobbies Quilting Floriculture Food Preparation Agriculture Exhibits Machine Sewing 6.
