2 The Oilsands Junior Curling Legacy Fund was established in 2013 with the surplus funds generated from hosting the 2013 M&M Junior Curling Championship. The priorities of the Legacy Fund are the following: 1. Support of curling programs that enhance the development of emerging and high performance athletes in the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo. 2. Provide support through training to increase leadership capacity and increasing support to curling athletes by promoting the growth and development of coaching, administration and sport official credentials. The following are eligible for funding and applicants must be: A member of the Fort McMurray Oilsands Curling Club or affiliated curling club in the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo with membership in the Canadian Curling Association. Resident of Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo. This Legacy Fund is to be administered by the Oilsands Junior Curling Legacy Association. The Association appreciates all the applications received; however, not all submissions will be approved. Approved applications will not automatically receive the maximum grant identified. OBJECTIVES 1. Participation at any competition where the athlete/participant or team has to travel outside of the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo. 2. Attendance of any training clinics or course for the acquisition and upgrading of skills not available through existing services in the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo. 3. Importing specialized personnel to the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo for training or educational purposes. Page 1 of 4
3 4. Funding coaches to attend courses or clinics for the acquisition / upgrading of skills that are not available in the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo. 5. Priority given to junior athletes and coaches. Age is set as per the Northern Alberta Curling Association. 6. The maximum award/team applications eligible is $5,000 and is prorated based on the priority framework. APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS AND CONDITIONS 1. Proof of qualification requirements and/or registration at event or program from the sanctioning organization. 2. All applications should be in the spirit and intent of the Legacy Fund. 3. Minimum amounts may vary dependent on the amount allocated for funding each year and the number of qualified applicants applying for funding. The amount funded is based on actual receipts submitted, not estimates. 4. Maximum amounts to claim are $10 Breakfast, $15 Lunch, $20 Dinner and $150 Hotel Room daily per diem. 5. Applicant shall be notified in writing from the Oilsands Junior Curling Legacy Association of the decision made within 30 days of the application received. Deadline for applications to be received is by January 30.
