3 This chart courtesy Zerohedge.com shows US car inventories continue to rise into record high territory. This is not a sign of a booming economy. Cars need to be sold, not stored.

4 This chart courtesy sources listed shows a correlation between layoffs and stock prices. Layoffs are issuing a warning to the stock market. Featured is the weekly gold chart. The green arrows point to bottoms in the 7-8 week gold cycle, the purple arrows point to tops. Next week is week #4 in the current cycle. A breakout at the blue arrow sets up a target at $1175. The supporting indicators (SIs), are positive. The number of ounces backing

5 GLD is unchanged at 21.6 million. The GDI closed at 37% compared to 39% the day before. This chart courtesy Cotpricecharts.com shows the 'net short' position of commercial gold dealers increased from 15,000 to 24,000 as of August 11th. As a percentage of open interest the number is bullish at 5.5%.

6 Featured is PHYS the gold trust. Price closed a gap on Friday. The SIs are positive. A breakout at the blue arrow sets up a target at the green arrow. The premium over bullion is negative at -.60%.

7 Featured is the gold price in Euros. Price is rising inside the blue channel and a breakout at the blue arrow turns the trend back to bullish.

8 Featured is the gold price in Canadian dollars. Price is rising inside the blue channel. The SIs are positive. A breakout at the blue arrow will confirm a bottom and mark the start of the next leg up.

9 Featured is GDX the gold and silver producers ETF. Price fell on Friday, but volume was low. The SIs are positive. A breakout at the blue arrow sets up a target at the 200DMA. The idea is for us to invest in sectors represented by these ETFs, or in the ETFs themselves. The goal is to be invested in sectors that are turning into an uptrend from having been in downtrend, and then sticking with the trade until the ETF or trust turns down. If you're interested in gold bullion, you would use GLD and PHYS. For gold mining stocks RGLD or GDX, and for silver mining stocks SIL. 13 This chart courtesy Cotpricecharts.com shows the net short position of commercial silver dealers rose from 14,000 to 22,000 as of August 11th. As a percentage of open interest the number is bullish at 12%.

14 Featured is PSLV the silver trust. Price is bumping into resistance at the 50DMA. The SIs are also up against resistance. The expectation is for price to look for support at the bottom of the blue speed-channel. Then a breakout at the blue arrow will set up a target at the green arrow. The premium over bullion is slightly negative at -.17%.

15 Featured is SIL the silver producers ETF. Price is nearing our first target and the SIs are positive. A breakout at the blue arrow sets up a target at the green arrow, but it may take a week or two for price to work through the lateral resistance. Long-term BUY/SELL signals. While the 'Trigger' signals are for short-term decisions and helpful for entry and exit decisions, here is a long-term system for people who only want to make a decision once in a while. If we can learn anything from science, it's this the scientific facts of today won't necessarily be the facts of tomorrow. The simple truth is that a scientific fact that is no longer a fact was never a fact to begin with! Take, for example, the so-called scientific fact of the expanding universe. We've all been told that

19 this is a scientific fact, a relic of the Big Bang that explains the red shift of stars as they speed away from us. But now, a team of astrophysicists from Lawrenceville Plasma Physics are calling that well-known fact into question. According to Sci-News.com, the results of their tests "are consistent with what would be expected from ordinary geometry if the Universe was not expanding, and are in contradiction with the drastic dimming of surface brightness predicted by the expanding universe hypothesis." In other words, this "new evidence, based on detailed measurements of the size and brightness of hundreds of galaxies, indicates that the universe is not expanding after all." We'll let scientists battle it out over whether the universe is expanding. Their views are bound to change anyway.
