2 INTRODUCTION Any transaction which occurs between the parties in a project usually occurs under the premise of a contract. A contract is legally binding on all parties for fulfilling their obligations. When one party accuses the other of violating the agreement, contract comes to the forefront. In such cases, Dispute Resolution Mechanism clause comes in handy for settlement of disputes between the parties concerned. A dispute resolution clause in the contract aids in : Speedy resolution at mutually agreed upon terms Avoids litigation Salvages business relations Decides on which law to follow in case of contracts beyond the borders of a country Solving disputes quickly and in a not so cumbersome process. OBJECTIVES The Programme is designed to give the participants an insight and expertise in to the following areas: Contract Management Dispute settling mechanism How to avoid litigation TARGET GROUP Owners, Consultants, Executives, Project Managers and Senior Engineers.
