1 Name: STOCK MARKET PROJECT INTRODUCTION You will be each given $10, to invest as you choose. You may choose to invest in stocks with higher risk, but the chance of higher rewards. You may also choose to invest in a savings account with low risk, but also low rewards. The rules for the project are as follows: You are allowed to own only one stock at a time. You cannot own a stock that someone else in class already has purchased There will be a $10 transaction fee for buying stocks. There will be a $10 transaction fee for selling stocks. All money not invested in stocks will be put in a savings account, earning 1.2% APR compounded monthly. Stocks will be purchased at the previous day s closing price. The investor with the most money at the end of the project wins! 1. For this project you will research 3 stocks that you are interested in purchasing. The best resource is the internet as it provides current accurate information. (We used Yahoo! Finance in class) 2. Each time you buy or sell stocks you must hand in a transaction form before or after class or at the teacher s discretion. This form must be carefully completed as mistakes could cost you money. If you only make 1 transaction for the project this form will be worth 15 points. 3. You will create a graph plotting the value of your stock s closing price on each Friday for the length of the project or the time that you own that stock. To do this you need to complete a weekly tacking sheet so we can verify the data matches what you have graphed. If you sell it and buy a new stock you will start a new graph. 4. The final value of your portfolio will be ranked with the rest of the class and you will earn points. The only way to earn zero points for this is to lose all of your money, so be careful in your investing. NOTE: Late projects will lose 10% credit per day! Due Date:
