35 IFRS 16 Accounting Impact on Lease Obligations IFRS 16 accounting for lessees in a nutshell: Transition from off-balance to on-balance, i.e., leasing contracts (mainly building / land rental contracts and retail concession agreements) must in future be accounted for in the same way as IFRIC 12.
