1 Estonia in Europe (collection of predefined views) A All panels view All panels view presents the composition of the indicator set. The colour in each segment represents the ranking of Estonia compared to other countries in the database. The Dashboard uses the traffic light logic (red - bad, yellow - average, green - good) to visualise the ranking of the countries. B Analytical view - Life expectancy at birth, males In the analytical view, you can see two panels and a large analysis window. In the analysis window, it is possible to present the distribution, scatterplot or a map. In this view, you can see the distribution of the countries for the indicator "Life expectancy at birth, males". With the life expectancy of 65.1 years, Estonia ranks 27th out of 28 countries. The best one for this indicator is Sweden with the life expectancy of 77.4 years, Lithuania is the worst with 65 years. C Indicator "Unemployment rate" In this view, you can see the distribution for the "Unemployment rate" indicator. Luxembourg is the best in this category with the value of 2,3%, the worst is Slovakia with the value of 18,7%. Estonia with the value of 12,5% ranks 23rd out of 28 countries. D Indicator "Primary or lower secondary level of education" In this view, you can see the distribution of the primary or lower secondary level of educational attainment. Here Estonia ranks second with the value of 14.4%. It means that in Estonia the proportion of people who have attained only lower or primary education is one of the smallest. E Map view It is also possible to present data on the map, which is sometimes the best way to communicate miscellaneous information. In this case the indicator of mixed municipal waste is presented. The colour codes are shown in the upper right corner (red - bad, yellow - average, green - good). F Income and mixed municipal waste A scatterplot may provide interesting insights. How is the higher income related to the generation of waste? Here is shown a correlation between two indicators: "collection" of the mixed municipal waste (x-scale) and median equivalised net income (y-scale). Low figure for waste "collection" (it also means that less waste is generated) is combined with low income (for example, see Latvia). In the case of Luxembourg it is vice versa, with high income more waste is "collected" and, consequently, also more waste is generated. G Does higher GDP also mean higher income? The linkage analysis allows to present positive and negative correlations between indicators. The correlations are presented in the left-hand correlation listbox. This view presents a positive correlation, higher GDP values correlate with higher income levels.

2 H Are the higher GDP levels related to higher enery consumption? In this view, you can see that the higher GDP figure is related to higher values of energy consumption (see also passenger transportation by car, nitrogen carried into the soil with fertilizers). I Does the higher income levels guarantee the higher life expectancy at birth? Higher income ensures higher life expectancy. J Annual change of harmonized index of consumer prices for EU-15 It is also possible to display only countries of the selected group, for example, 15 Member States or 13 new member states and applicant countries. In this view the distribution is based only on the EU-15 countries values. Look at the next favourite to see how the ranking will change after 10 new member states have joined the EU. K The extended EU-25 Here the ranking for extended EU-25 for the indicator "Annual change of harmonized index of consumer prices" is displayed. Ireland - estimated as "critical" in the previous favourite - is now estimated as "fair". L Annual change in the harmonised consumer price index in the Baltic Sea countries It is also possible to display different groups of countries, for example, the Baltic Sea countries. In this view, the distribution is based only on the values of the Baltic Sea countries. M Give the weights to the indicators and themes It is possible to change the weights of indicators and indexes. By changing the weights you can track the changes in the indexes colours. You can observe the performance of the country when you give preferences to indicators and indexes by changing weights. In this view, the arrow shows the ranking of Estonia on the spectrum from excellent to critical if all indicators have equal weights. Choose the next favourite in order to see a full picture with changed weights. N New set In the overall index the weight of the theme economy is increased. Also inside the themes some indicators have been deleted and for others the weights have been increased. The intention here has been to display the small set of "old wellknown" indicators. In the case of Estonia the overall index's ranking (colour) has shifted from yellow to red (average to very bad).
