3 OUR JOURNEY Zenith for the Accomplished commenced business as a general Underwriting Manager on behalf of Hollard Insurance Company, with 8 staff members on Wednesday, 1 November 2006 having purchased a middle market Personal lines insurance book from the Louis Group. In the beginning of 2007 a high net worth personal lines product developed by senior management at Zenith was launched and an intensive process of cultivating new distribution was embarked upon. Initially we targeted distinguished independent brokers and managed to break into the corporate broker market during 2008 and Amongst others, Nedbank Insurance and Barnard Jacobs Mellet (later acquired by FNB) took up agencies. The Nedbank portfolio has grown significantly and today Zenith is the only Underwriting Manager on the panel of approved providers for Nedbank Bizzinsure, a policy specifically targeting all business account holders within the bank. Our initial focus was to establish the Zenith brand based on the excellence of the Zenith Wealth product and the private client service with which we supported it. Our success provided the platform from which we entered the Commercial Insurance market at the end of During the following year, we handpicked some of the finest commercial underwriting staff from the industry and by the end of 2014, Commercial Insurance premium already accounted for 20% of total premium turnover. Despite initial constraints to our Commercial facility, this portfolio continued to grow to 30% of our premium turnover in February At the present growth rate, Commercial Insurance premium will constitute 50% of turnover at the end of The total turnover of the business has grown in excess of 30% year on year since 2012 during which time we nevertheless maintained exceptional underwriting results. We currently service an annual portfolio of R with a staff count of 24 and more than 100 intermediaries. At the backdrop of these achievements, Hollard acquired Etana at the beginning of This changed their and our business landscape, influenced strategy and culminated in an amicable decision for Zenith and Hollard to pursue separate future paths. During an extensive process of courting both local and international players of various sizes and importance over more than 18 months, Zenith chose as future partners, Western National Insurance Company and Infiniti Insurance. Western started out as a Namibian insurer which expanded into South-Africa in The majority shareholders are PSG Konsult Limited and Santam Limited. Western has high solvency margins and an A- credit rating from the Global Credit Rating Company. We partner with Western because of its strong credentials, but also because of the synergy intrinsic to the partnership. Zenith has been appointed as a preferred supplier of High Net Worth Personal lines insurance to the entire PSG network. We are also the exclusive regional underwriting conduit for Commercial Lines insurance in the following provinces: Northern Cape, Free State, North West Province and KwaZulu Natal. This makes for significant growth potential with Western in the short to medium future. Infiniti, our other partner, was established in They also have high solvency margins and an A- credit rating from the Global Credit Rating Company. We partnered with them particularly because of their high levels of technical expertise, flexibility, diversified facility and most of all, integrity. Once all current business is converted to our new partners on 1 August 2015, Zenith will expand into Namibia, Mozambique, Mauritius, Zambia and possibly the Seychelles.
4 OUR PRODUCTS Zenith for the Accomplished is a niche player focused on profitable underwriting results. It is at the core of our business to select both the segments in which we do business as well as each individual policyholder whom we underwrite. We offer the following products to our intermediaries and their clients: PERSONAL INSURANCE Zenith Wealth: This product is aimed at the financially accomplished segment with Contents sums insured exceeding R and Buildings exceeding R Additional benefits include a valuation and inventory on the contents of the primary dwelling and AA Plus membership for roadside and home assistance. This product offers all risks cover for Contents, and lifestyle based classes of use for Vehicles (Private use; Business use; Weekender use and Infrequent use and Swallow use for policyholders living abroad for 6 months per year). Covers can be tailored to the requirements of the individual with high cover limits, elective excess structures with premium benefits, competitive rating structures and private client service by dedicated underwriters. It is suitably packaged in a handmade leather portfolio. Indigo: The Indigo policy is an accommodation product for highly selected middle market individuals. Requirements include a loss ratio of less than 40% over the preceding 36 months, a minimum Contents sum insured of R or a Building sum insured in excess of R This product offers the same benefits as Zenith Wealth, but with lower cover limits. COMMERCIAL INSURANCE The Business policy: This product is aimed at small to large businesses excluding corporate business specifically. It offers a selection of risk based covers from which business clients can select to finance commercial risks. Bizzinsure policy: This product is owned by Nedbank Insurance and only available through their insurance advisors. It is also aimed at small to large businesses. It offers a selection of risk based covers from which business clients can select to finance commercial risks. The Agri policy: This product is aimed at businesses in the agricultural sector and caters for farms of all sizes. It offers a selection of risk based covers from which farming concerns can select to finance agricultural and business related risks. It includes agricultural specific covers e.g. covers for livestock, pedigreed animals and irrigation systems.
