1 SET SAIL WITH DESJARDINS CONTEST RULES CONTEST PERIOD 1. The SET SAIL WITH DESJARDINS contest is organized by the Fédération des caisses Desjardins du Québec (the Contest Organizer ). The contest runs from April 5, 2017, at 8:00 am. until May 15, 2017, at 11:59 p.m. (the Contest Period ). ELIGIBILITY 2. This contest is open to residents of Quebec or Ontario between the ages of 15 and 25 inclusive who are members of a Desjardins caisse in Quebec or Ontario (the Eligible Participant ). The following people are not eligible: a) Employees and managers of the Desjardins Group Marketing Division and anyone living with them b) Directors and officers of the Fédération des caisses Desjardins du Québec and anyone living with them c) Directors and officers of the Fédération des caisses populaires de l Ontario Inc. and anyone living with them d) Employees, managers, directors and officers of Bob Agence Inc. and XLR8 Media Inc., and anyone living with them e) Employees, managers, directors and officers of Voyages Laurier du Vallon and anyone living with them f) Employees, managers, directors and officers of Sail Training International, Rendez-vous naval de Québec and 3E, and anyone living with them g) Members of the selection committee and anyone living with them HOW TO ENTER 3. Eligible Participants may enter the contest in any of the ways listed below: 3.1 Online at by: Filling out the required fields on the electronic entry form: Contact information Name of their Desjardins caisse A text of 100 to 250 words explaining why they would like to be there for the arrival of the tall ships in Le Havre, France, during the Rendez-Vous 2017 Tall Ships Regatta The prize they are entering to win (the grand prize, a secondary prize or both) The answer to a mathematical skill-testing question Confirm they have read the contest rules Click Submit. Upon receipt of the entry form, the contest entry will automatically be registered and provide 1 chance to win. 3.2 By mail, by sending a letter in a postage-paid envelope with their contact information (first and last names, address and phone number), name of their caisse, whether they re entering to win the grand prize or one of the secondary prizes or both, a text of 100 to 250 words explaining why they would like to be there for the arrival of the tall ships in Le Havre, France, during the Rendez-Vous 2017 Tall Ships Regatta, and the answer to the following mathematical skill-testing question: (2x2) + (6/3) 2, to the following address: 1

Upon receipt of the letter, the contest entry will automatically be registered and provide 1 chance to win. Entries by mail will be subject to the same conditions as all other entries. Mechanical reproductions will not be accepted. Entries become the property of the Contest Organizer and will not be returned. 4. Limit. Limit of 1 entry per Eligible Participant during the Contest Period, regardless of entry method. PRIZES 5. In total, 4 prizes will be awarded, with a total approximate prize value of $15,900. The prizes are as follows: 1 grand prize: The grand prize is a trip for 2 people for 7 nights and 8 days to attend the arrival of the Rendez-Vous 2017 Tall Ships Regatta in Le Havre, France, from August 28 to September 5, The total approximate value of the grand prize is $6,000. For prize details, see section 5.1 below. 3 secondary prizes: Each secondary prize consists of an allowance to cover the registration fees, travel costs and equipment required for 1 trainee position for 1 person aboard a tall ship during the Guest Port Program of the Rendez-Vous 2017 Tall Ships Regatta, leaving from Montreal and sailing to Quebec City, from July 15 to 19, The approximate value of each secondary prize is $3,300, for a total approximate value of $9,900 in secondary prizes. For prize details, see section 5.2 below. 5.1 SPECIAL CONDITIONS REGARDING THE GRAND PRIZE Roundtrip flight for 2 people from Montreal to Paris in economy class, departing August 28 and returning September 5, 2017, as well as roundtrip travel by train between Paris and Le Havre. Travel from the winner s home to the airport is not included Accommodations for 5 nights (check-in on Wednesday, August 30 and check-out Monday, September 4) at the four-star Novotel Le Havre Centre Gare hotel in a double occupancy room with 1 double bed and 1 sofa bed. The hotel reservation will be made by the Contest Organizer, but the winner or their guest must provide a credit card upon arrival at the hotel to confirm the reservation and cover the cost of any damages or additional expenses not included in the prize Accommodations for 2 non-consecutive nights (check-in Tuesday, August 29 and check-out Wednesday, August 30 AND check-in Monday, September 4 and check-out Tuesday, September 5) at the four-star Mercure Paris Opera Garnier hotel in a double occupancy room with 1 queen bed or 2 twin beds. The hotel reservation will be made by the Contest Organizer, but the winner or their guest must provide a credit card upon arrival at the hotel to confirm the reservation and cover the cost of any damages or additional expenses not included in the prize A C$1,000 cheque in the winner s name will be provided prior to departure to cover the cost of meals Half-day sailing course for 2 people in Le Havre. If the winner is a minor, authorization from their parent or legal guardian is required The winner and their guest must have passports valid for at least 3 months after their scheduled return to Canada. Based on the scheduled dates for the trip, that means valid until at least December 5,

3 5.1.7 If the winner is a minor and their guest is not their parent or legal guardian, the minor must have a letter of authorization from their parents or legal guardian. The winner s guest must have reached the age of majority in their province of residence. 5.2 SPECIAL CONDITIONS REGARDING SECONDARY PRIZES Boarding the tall ship in Montreal on July 15, 2017; departure on July 16 with 2 days at sea; arrival in Quebec City on July 18 or, at the latest, the morning of July 19, depending on winds A $300 cheque or VIA Rail gift card, at the Contest Organizer s discretion, to cover the cost of travel to and from the ports of departure and arrival A $1,000 gift card to MEC (Mountain Equipment Co-op) to purchase the equipment required for the trainee position Accommodations and meals provided aboard the tall ship Any expenses not described in the Prizes section above are the responsibility of the winner. This includes, but is not limited to personal travel, baggage, medical emergency and cancellation insurance for the winner and their guest. SELECTING THE WINNERS 6.1 The winner of the grand prize will be selected from among all eligible entries received and registered for the grand prize. A selection committee made up of 3 Desjardins employees will review the participants reasons for wanting to win to choose the winner. The committee s decision will be based on the quality of the text provided. All other documents provided by Eligible Participants will not be reviewed during the selection process. If multiple entries are selected, the Eligible Participants will be contacted by phone for a short interview to select the winner The Contest Organizer will contact the selected participant by phone no later than 4:00 p.m. on May 29, The winners of the secondary prizes will be selected electronically at random from all eligible entries received and registered for the secondary prizes. The draw will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, May 23, 2017, in the presence of witnesses, in the offices of the Contest Organizer in Montreal The odds of an Eligible Participant s name being randomly drawn depend on the number of eligible entries received for the prizes during the Contest Period. GENERAL CONDITIONS 7. To be declared a winner, the participants selected at random for the secondary prizes and the participant chosen for the grand prize must also meet the following conditions: Be reached by the Contest Organizer by phone. Each participant must be reached within no more than 2 attempts and will have 48 hours maximum to return the call following a voic left by the Contest Organizer, if applicable; otherwise the right to the prize will be forfeited. The Contest Organizer will then contact the next participant and the same procedure will be followed until the winners have been declared. Confirm that they meet the eligibility conditions and other requirements set forth in these contest rules. Confirm they correctly answered the mathematical skill-testing question. Sign the declaration and release form (the Declaration Form ) sent to them by fax or by the Contest Organizer (at the Contest Organizer s discretion), and return it to the Contest Organizer within 10 business days of receiving it. 3

4 If the selected participant is a minor, the parent or legal guardian will be contacted by a representative of the Contest Organizer. The parent or legal guardian must be reached within no more than 2 attempts and will have 48 hours maximum to return the call following a voic left by the Contest Organizer, if applicable; otherwise the selected participant s right to the prize will be forfeited. The Contest Organizer will then contact the next participant and the same procedure will be followed until the winners have been declared. Confirm that the minor they represent meets the eligibility conditions and other requirements set forth in these contest rules. Correctly answer, unaided, a time-limited mathematical skill-testing question over the phone. Sign the Declaration Form sent to them by mail or , and return it to the Contest Organizer within 10 business days of receiving it. 8. Within 10 days of receiving the Declaration Form, the Contest Organizer will send an to the winners to inform them of the delivery terms of their prize. Should a winner refuse to claim the prize, the Contest Organizer will be released from any obligation related to the awarding of said prize and may, at its discretion, hold a new draw as described below. If the winner is a minor who resides in Quebec, the prize may be claimed only by the person who has entered the contest with the written consent of one of their parents or their guardian, who will confirm the participant s age and compliance with all the terms and conditions of the contest, and release the Contest Organizer and the persons for whose benefit the contest is being held from any liability with respect to damage or loss arising from participation in this contest, the awarding or use of the prize, the quality thereof, and any defect therein or its loss during transportation, by signing the Declaration Form. If the winner is a minor who resides in Ontario, the prize may be claimed only by the father or mother with whom the winner resides, or the person who has legal custody of the winner. One of these parties will provide written confirmation of the participant s age and compliance with all the terms and conditions of the contest, and release the Contest Organizer and the persons for whose benefit the contest is being held from any liability with respect to damage or loss arising from participation in this contest, the awarding or use of the prize, the quality thereof, and any defect therein or its loss during transportation, by signing the Declaration Form. 9. Failure to comply with any conditions of these contest rules or to accept the prize will result in disqualification of the participant. In such a case, the Contest Organizer may, at its sole discretion, cancel the prize or hold a new selection or draw until a participant is selected and declared the winner of the prize. If no participant is declared a winner in the 20 days following the initial selection or draw, the Contest Organizer will be entitled to cancel the prize(s). 10. Verification. All entries, entry forms and Declaration Forms are subject to verification by the Contest Organizer. Any entry form or Declaration Form that is incomplete, inaccurate, illegible, manually or mechanically reproduced, mutilated, fraudulent, obtained from an unauthorized source, submitted or mailed late, containing an invalid telephone number or otherwise non-compliant, may be rejected and will be ineligible as an entry or for a prize, as the case may be. 11. Disqualification. The Contest Organizer reserves the right to disqualify any individual or void one or more entries of any individual who enters or attempts to enter this contest by any means that violate these rules or are unfair to other participants (e.g., use of fraudulently obtained entry forms, entries in excess of the allowed limit). Such persons may be reported to the appropriate legal authorities. 12. Contest operation. Any attempt to sabotage the legitimate conduct of this contest constitutes a violation of civil and criminal laws. In the event such attempts are made, the Contest Organizer reserves the right to reject the participant s entry(ies) and to take legal action. 13. Acceptance of prizes. Prizes must be accepted as described herein and may not, in any case, be transferred, in whole or in part, to another person, substituted for another prize or exchanged for money, unless otherwise stated in the rules. 14. Limitation of liability. Should the Contest Organizer be unable to award the prize as described herein, it reserves the right to award a prize of the same type and equivalent value or, at its sole discretion, the cash value of the prize indicated herein. 4

5 15. Limitation of liability use of prize. By entering this contest, the winners release the Contest Organizer and persons on whose behalf the contest is held from any and all liability with respect to damages, harm or loss that may arise from receipt or use of the prize. Winners acknowledge that upon receipt of the confirming the prize, the fulfilment of obligations related to the prize becomes the full and exclusive responsibility of the various goods and services suppliers. Winners agree to sign a Declaration Form to this effect or, in the event the winner is a minor, the parent or guardian agrees to sign the Declaration Form. The prizewinner or the prizewinner s parent or guardian, where applicable, acknowledges that the only applicable warranty is the usual manufacturer s warranty. In the specific case of trainee positions, the trainee s tall ship will be covered by a professional liability insurance policy to cover any error, fault, omission or damage of any kind to anyone or anything including bodily injury, property damage and intangible damage to any legal or natural person. 16. Limitation of liability contest operation. The Contest Organizer and the persons on whose behalf the contest is held are not liable for any faulty computer component, software or line of communication, or for the loss or absence of network communication capability, or for any faulty, incomplete, incomprehensible or erased computer or network transmission that makes it difficult or impossible to read the contest rules. They also waive all liability with respect to any damage or loss that may be caused, directly or indirectly, in whole or in part, by any website or software or other download, and the transmission of any information concerning contest participation. More specifically, if the administration, security, impartiality, integrity or conduct of the contest is corrupted or seriously affected, namely because of a virus, bug, unauthorized intervention, alteration, fraud, technical computer failure or any other cause, the Contest Organizer reserves the right to cancel, modify, extend or suspend the contest without prior notice. 17. Limitation of liability entries. The Contest Organizer and the persons on whose behalf the contest is held cannot be held liable for lost, misdirected or late entries, including for reasons involving postal service problems, or any breakdown, for any reason whatsoever, of the website during the Contest Period, including any damage to an Eligible Participant s computer or mobile device. 18. Limitation of liability Inability to act. The Contest Organizer and the persons on whose behalf the contest is held cannot be held liable for any situation in which their inability to act results from an event or situation beyond their control, or a strike, lockout or any other labour dispute in the places of business of the organizations or companies whose services are used to hold the contest. 19. Contest changes. The Contest Organizer reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend this contest, in whole or in part, should human intervention or an event occur that could alter or affect the administration, security, impartiality or conduct of the contest as provided for in these rules. The Contest Organizer cannot be held liable. 20. Termination of the contest. In the event that, for any reason whatsoever, the contest must end, in whole or in part, before the end date stated in these contest rules, the selection and draw may take place, at the discretion of the Contest Organizer, from those entries duly registered and received up to the date of the event ending the contest. 21. Prize limit. In no event shall the Contest Organizer be required to award more prizes or to award a prize other than in accordance with these contest rules. 22. Limitation of liability contest participation. By entering or attempting to enter this contest, participants agree not to hold liable the Contest Organizer or the persons on whose behalf the contest is held for any damages that may result from entering or attempting to enter this contest. 23. Authorization. By entering this contest, the prizewinner authorizes the Contest Organizer, its representatives and caisses belonging to the Fédération des caisses Desjardins du Québec to use, if required, their name, photograph, image, voice, description of the prize, place of residence and/or declaration relating to the prize for advertising purposes, without any compensation. 24. Communication with participants. There will be no communication or correspondence with participants as part of this contest, except as provided for in these rules or at the Contest Organizer's initiative. 25. Personal information. Participants personal information collected for this contest will be used only for the administration of the contest. No communications, commercial or otherwise, unrelated to this contest will be sent to participants, unless they have otherwise agreed. 26. Ownership. Entry forms and Declaration Forms are the property of the Contest Organizer and will not under any circumstances be returned to participants. 5

6 27. Decisions of the Contest Organizer. All persons who enter the contest agree to be bound by these contest rules and to the final and binding decisions of the Contest Organizer administering the contest. 28. Severability. If a section of these rules is declared or deemed illegal, unenforceable or invalid by a court of competent jurisdiction, that section will be considered null and void, but all other sections that are not affected will be enforced to the extent permitted by law. 29.
