2 ABOUT US Jesús T. Piñero Library and Center for Social Research From the year 2002 Ana G. Méndez University (AGMUS), Carolina Campus, has been the repository of the personal documents of Puerto Rico s first native governor, Jesus T. Piñero. In this year the children of Piñero, Haydeé and Jose Emilio donated to AGMUS documents, telegrams, photographies and personal objects of their father. This donation marked the beginning of the Jesus T. Piñero Library and Social Research Center. For more than a decade, the Piñero Collection has experienced a constant growth. Nowadays the collection includes, Piñero s private and public documents, an oral history documentary films, Piñero s own documentary films collection, and various cartels and works of art. The conference facilities at the Jesus T. Piñero Library and Social Research Center Grounds offer a unique atmosphere, exceptional architecture and state-of-the-art conference equipment. Boasting the highest standards in technology and architecture, this versatile venue provides the ideal setting for every kind of event congresses, conventions, seminars, informal get-togethers, workshops and road shows. Located close to the Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport, our Center complex offers not only unique, futuristic architecture, but also serves as a classy and central location for events of every description. 01

18 Location We are located at University del Este (UNE) campus in Carolina, Ave. Principal Sabana, Carr. 190, Barrio Sabana Abajo. Our facilities are just 5 minutes from the Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport. Parking Ample on-site car parking is charged $1 flat fee per car/day. Disabled parking is available adjacent to the entrance facing Ramón Baldorioty de Castro Expressway. Accesibility Our facilities are fully accessible for people in wheelchairs or with limited mobility. If you need a wheelchair space in the theatre, please ask for this when booking the event. 17

19 Terms & Conditions BOOKING, CONFIRMATION AND PAYMENT To confirm an event application, a deposit must be paid within the time specified on the contract. No refunds of the space rental fees will be paid 25 days prior to an event, as your agreement to rent any of our spaces on this date may cause the loss of additional bookings or business. Should the client cancel the booking, Biblioteca y Centro de Investigación Social Jesús T. Piñero (Biblioteca Piñero) retains the deposit paid. The foyer is a general service area for all the Centre venues. Specific use of the foyer, other than for arrival/departure of guests, is not included for the event unless specified on the contract or advised in writing by the centre. The foyer may as well be rented separately for events. Payments should be made to Universidad del Este. Cash, check and major credit cards are accepted. A signed contract and date-hold 50% deposit of the costs associated with the event space rental must be received to reserve your date(s) and time(s). The balance of your space rental fee is due on the day of the event. Miscellaneous costs, such as bar, catering, rentals, etc., are due prior to your event start date. Any additional costs that arise will be due within two (2) days of your event. No terms are implied or granted and no work will be allowed to commence until full payment is received. INSURANCE Special Event Liability insurance is required of all renters and is due no later than ten (10) days prior to your event. The insurance must, at the renter s sole expense, provide and maintain general liability insurance, including but not limited to bodily injury and property damage liability, insuring Biblioteca Piñero and Universidad del Este employees, contractors and contracted vendors against all bodily injury, property damage, personal injury and other loss arising out of renter s use and occupancy of the premises, or any other occupant on the premises, including appurtenances to the premises and sidewalks. The insurance required hereunder shall have a single limit liability of not less than $1 million, and general aggregate liability of not less than $2 million. Universidad del Este shall be named as an additional insured of said policy. If alcohol is served at the event your policy must comply with University del Este Alcohol Policy and include Liquor Liability coverage. This coverage should protect you, Biblioteca Piñero and Universidad del Este against alcohol-related accidents, as you are ultimately liable for the safety of your guests. Any caterers and/or outside vendors, companies, and/or institutions must provide certificate of insurance, evidencing General Liability and Liquor Liability coverage, at least seven (7) days prior to the event. LIABILITY OF CLIENT Renter agrees to indemnify, defend and hold Biblioteca Piñero and Universidad del Este, Ana G. Méndez University System, officers, employees, and agents harmless of and from any liabilities, costs, penalties, or expenses arising out of and/or resulting from the rental and use of the premises, including but not limited to, the personal guarantee of provision, service, and dispensing of payment by renter, its employees, and agents of alcoholic beverages at Biblioteca Piñero. Additional Terms & Conditions will be included upon booking and contract signing. 18
