2 SSAP boosting the student achievements: review results of the prior year, assessment the critical needs; creating a plan that addresses these Funding and focus on data-driven tools Tod Cracroft also gave everyone the School Community Council Handbook to read. Election of Officers. Becky Bowen was elected chair (motion Stacia Cummins, second by Laurie Lorenzon); Christie Oaks was elected vice chair (motion Joy Ligget, second by Laurie Lorenzon) Land Trust Budget (see annex 1). The FY18 budget estimate is $58,860. The GSD mandates the school to spend the entire budget every year and not keep funds for future years. This is what Morningside does. The largest item in the budgets are salaries and benefits for Paraeducators. This budget pays for 3 aides (Darla Springer, Kirsten Winterton, Eric Vorkink), $31,040 budgeted. The second largest item is professional and technical services. This pays for o Utah Arts Council Grant. Morningside has a matching grant of 800 per class. We will be losing funds since we have 4 classes left 23 classes outstanding so $18,400. $?? budgeted. o Heidi Bowen, Americorps coordinator. 30 strategic kids are being tutored. These kids are not the lowest readers but are not at benchmark. $5,000 budgeted. Other items are classroom instructions. o We discussed the smart boards, and how great these are. They cost about $1,500 each including shipping and installation. About 80% of the teachers would want them (20% of the teachers would like to learn how to use them). The school will be able to fund about 10 or 12 using their different funds (4 from the technological fund, 2 from some Land Trust Fund, some from the $19,000 school fundraiser of September). The PTA may be able to also assist and make a gift. $3,000 budget. Follow up: Stacia Cummins follow up on the PTA donation Follow up: Tod Cracroft follow up on the order of which classes/teachers to get these o Subscription to National Geographic magazines for the kids. Christie Oaks explained how great for kids these are. $2,000 budgeted. Budget not formally approved but approved in principle. Other topics discussed (no votes taken). School Student Achievement Plan (SSAP). Tod Cracroft explained how what is important is not only the proficiency, but the growth of a student, the median growth percentile. A good number of the median growth percentile is between 40 and 65%. Morningside has envious numbers at 70%. He explained the different tests being conducted, and how in prior years, there were too many tests. Now, Morningside conducts the following tests 3 times a year, the benchmark data, and the 4 th time is the SAGE. There is also the Diebels test which test the reading comprehension of students conducted twice a year. Follow up: Becky Bowen to put on the agenda the review of the test scores of the last year Follow up: Tod Cracroft to send the data in advance of last minute for review 2 P a g e

3 Safety Related. o Last year a plan was made and approved by the SCC. Unfortunately, the person in charge of this at the district are retired, and the school did not get the project going. Tod Cracroft feels responsible to reviving the project. We agreed to review it in the coming SCC. Laurie Lorenzon mentioned talking to her neighbor (a qualified traffic engineer working at firm that works with UDOT) and how he had introduced new and different ideas from the plan. Follow up: Tod Cracroft to send the plan that was approved last year to members for their review Follow up: Laurie Lorenzon to reach out to neighbor and get ideas. Follow up: Becky Bowen to place this topic on the agenda of next meeting o France Barral mentioned involving the city of Holladay to watch the intersection of Bluebell and 3100 S with the request to place a 3 way stop. The city will install a traffic counter and watch traffic on Monday/Tues/Wed. Follow up: France follow up on solution with city of Holladay. o Stacia Cummins talked about the dangerous Skyline crossing at the intersection of Birch drive (about 3300 E.) and 3900 S. which is exactly between Millcreek and Holladay cities. Follow up: Stacia to contact the city of Millcreek and Holladay to make the official request for better safety. Use of parking stalls dedicated to teachers and staff by others in the east parking lot. Becky Bowen recommended repainting the signs to make it more obvious for parents. Follow up: Tod Cracroft to follow up on the appropriate budget to take care of this. Potholes in the east parking lot. Arshia Kergaye mentioned potholes that would need to be fixed on the parking lot. Follow up: Tod Cracroft to follow up on the appropriate budget to take care of this. Meeting adjourned. 3 P a g e
