4 NEWLANCER outcomes NEWLANCER will pave the way for a sustainable participation in nuclear energy research as framed by SRA through a better use of existing: - specific and unique competence developed in NMS in the field of: - infrastructure Materials for Fast Nuclear Reactors and ADS Generation III and IV systems Nuclear Safety RadWaste Management & Disposal Radioprotection Education and Training At the end of the project, we aim that all NMS partners shall be involved in new projects answering the SRA requests Topics of the new projects will be identified within the NEWLANCER Means foreseen: analysis of research potential - more efficiently exploited in the Euratom competitions network connecting specialists at national, regional and European level links to national authorities responsible for nuclear research strategy links to European Structures (Technological Platforms, European Networks) 12/7/2011 SNETP General Assembly, Warsaw November 29,2011 4

6 Country specificities NMS developed nuclear programmes based on a different reactor fleet: CANDU Romania VVER Bulgaria and Hungary RBMK - Lithuania National research focused on specific aspects led to a high quality research unique in Europe Country specific experience and competence can be valorized in the Euratom research bringing added value at European level Enhanced participation in EURATOM program will strengthen the national competence and will contribute therefore to the new European nuclear safety architecture in all nuclear member states 12/7/2011 SNETP General Assembly, Warsaw November 29,2011 6

10 Implementation To achieve an extended contribution in Euratom research and consequently a better integration in SRA, NMS partners in NEWLANCER will benefit on the contribution of CEA, ENEA, SCK.CEN experts will count on SNETP assistance participation of its representatives in the project events NEWLANCER aims to built a core structure able to be enlarged with specialists and organisations from other NMS and OMS targeting a larger participation in Euratom research 12/7/2011 SNETP General Assembly, Warsaw November 29,

11 Conclusions NEWLANCER is aiming to enhance the participation of NMS research institutions and academia in EURATOM research programme. To achieve this objective, the partners of the project from NMS and OMS: will improve the networking between the organisations from both sides, will favour the mobility of the researchers & nuclear specialists in both directions, will identify the unique research facilities available in the NMS and promote them for use for the completion of the SRA of SNETP NEWLANCER invites all R&D organisations with competences and facilities relevant to the SNETP SRA to contact NEWLANCER project members to allow collecting this information.
