The Consultant introduced microlending activities in two new regional branches in Novorossiisk and Volgogrand: - trained expert managers and support specialists in charge of all stages of credit process (customers attraction, financial and economic analysis, etc.) including basic seminars and on-the-job training; - trained branch management and Credit Committees' members on credit analysis and decision making principles and control according to the existing methodology; - monitored the lending process on all stages in the designated branches; - selected heads of microlending departments on the branch level; - analysed and evaluated the microfinance lending results and made suggestions for adjustment of the lending policy/methodology; - expanded and developed sales channels for MSE clients segments. Market Survey on Current Status of Agrilending to SMPs Key Projects Objective to identify focus subsectors (agri-food products) and opportunities for development of effective agrilending to SMPs by Project partner FIs. The market survey coverd all 24 oblasts of Ukraine and the Autonomous Crimean Republic. The Consultant gathered information for each oblast on: Research Market Analysis Agrilending 1. Most typical agro-production lines for SMPs; 2. Number of SMPs per oblast categorized into farm size; 3. For each agro-production line: - factors (climatic, soil, irrigation/drainage, etc.) that affect the line s gross margin; - expert forecast of the potential growth/shrinkage of the line by oblast; - investment potential. 4. List of financial institutions, active in agrilending to SMPs by oblast. The Consultant provided expert advice and recommendations to banks and credit unions on priority oblasts for launching agrilending products for SMP, based on the analysis of optimal size categories of target SMPs and optimal agro-production lines in current and potential demand.
