JAFCU S 65 TH ANNUAL MEETING Jackson Area Federal Credit Union recently held its 65th annual meeting on Thursday, March 22, The annual meeting was once again held at the Hinds Community College Nursing Allied Health Center in Jackson. There were two board of directors positions whose terms were expiring in Three nominations were received to include two incumbents and one recent nominee. In mid-february, incumbent board member Monteneze Miller withdrew his nomination to JAFCU s Board of Directors because of excessive work travel requirements. Therefore, incumbent Roy DeBerry and nominee Steve Rachel were elected by acclamation at the 65th annual meeting. In his remarks, Gary Fairley, president/ceo, mentioned that the year 2017 was one of the best years for our credit union in many years. Mr. Fairley went on to thank our volunteers, dedicated staff, and our members for your continued support and allowing us to serve you each day. To show our appreciation to our members, we raffled off some 30 $50-cash envelopes at the meeting. This year we were entertained by Jackson Public School s Forest Hill High School Choir, led by Choral Director Labethani May. The annual meeting of the Jackson Area Federal Credit Union is held on the fourth Thursday of March every year. Thank you for making Jackson Area Federal Credit Union your credit union! 3 SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITIES THREE GREAT WAYS MEMBERSHIP PAYS WITH This year JAFCU will award two $500 scholarships to a graduating high school senior who is a member of the credit union! How to Apply for One of JAFCU s $500 Scholarships There are 2 ways to apply! 1 - Create a 60-second video advertisement about Jackson Area FCU. The video should cover products and services that would help a college student gain financial independence. OR 2 - Write a 500-word essay and address the following topics: What are your career goals and how do you plan to achieve them? Who or what has influenced your career decisions? Guidelines Must be a member of Jackson Area Federal Credit Union in good standing. Must be a graduating high school senior who is enrolled to attend an institution of higher learning. The scholarship money will be paid directly to the school of choice (not the student) before the 2018 fall semester. Jackson Area Federal Credit Union employees, board and committee members, and their families are not eligible for the scholarships. How to Submit Your Entry If submitting an essay, it must be typed and have at least 500 words. Essays may be ed to the marketing department at wcameron@jacksonareafcu.com. Essays may also be dropped off at our office. You may also choose to mail your essay to Jackson Area Federal Credit Union Attention: Scholarship Committee P.O.
