It is a day to honor those working in the credit union industry and show members our appreciation. This year s ICU Day will take place on October 16th. It s theme, Local Service. Global Good., emphasizes credit unions positive impact on their communities and around the world. 2 P A G E Christmas Club Your Christmas Club paid out on October 1st. Your dividend earnings of % were added to your account and the funds were transferred to your main share account. Santa Letters Santa has been making his list, checking it twice, and will be sending a personalized letter to all the boys and girls that have been nice! KRD has partnered with Santa Claus and Network to have your child receive a personalized letter from Santa for only a $ donation to Network. The deadline is November 15th. Imagine the surprise on your little one s face when they receive mail from the North Pole! Best of all the proceeds will benefit children in our area with CMN! HO HO HO from the North Pole! New Drive Thru Hours For your convenience, KRD has expanded the hours for the drive thru! You now can utilize the drive thru from 7:0 am to 5:00 pm. The lobby hours remain the same 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. And the phone will be answered from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. The above hours are Monday through Friday. New Daily Limit has been set on Debit Cards In an effort to prevent fraud, KRD has changed the debit cards daily limit to $ Our fraud department, Falcon, does a fantastic job detecting fraud activity for our members. However, fraud activity is always increasing and those individuals are becoming better and smarter at stealing from us. By setting a daily limit for all point of sale transactions, we hope to further protect our members. Of course, we understand if you need your limit increased while you are out-of-town or making a large purchase. Please just give KRD a call in advance and we can increase your daily limit for a short period of time. We apologize for any inconvenience this might cause you!

4 P A G E 4 CU Lunch Local KRD is proud to participate in this year s CU Lunch Local on October 14th. The staff will be ordering in lunch on that Tuesday to support one of the wonderful restaurants in our community. What a great way to show that Credit Unions are different and we support our local businesses! This event was founded in 01 in Michigan. Last year over 60 Credit Unions participated in three states. Every dollar spent makes a difference when it goes to a local business, and participating is as simple as stopping at a locally owned business for a cup of coffee. Make plans now to support a local restaurant in your community on October 14th! Miracle Jeans Day KRD staff supported Miracle Jeans Day in September! For a small donation to Network, the KRD crew received a CMN Miracle Jeans t-shirt and traded in their normal workday attire for the t-shirt and jeans on a Wednesday! Dates Closed Credit Unions from across the country participated in this fundraising event for Network. 100% of every dollar donated goes back to a local CMN hospital. Credit Unions are CMN s rd largest sponsors! To keep your identity and money safe, here are some guidelines to keep in mind. Trust your instincts. If its too good to be true, it probably is. Comparison shop. Check around both online and offline. With shipping costs, you might find it cheaper at a store. Shop Only at Secure Web Sites. If you look at the address bar, you should see The s indicates that Web site is secure. You might not see that until you begin the purchase. Or you might see a closed padlock displayed on the address bar. If it is open, you should assume it is not a secure site. Never give out your Social Security Number. There is no need for the merchant to ask for it and is not a requirement for placing an order. Locate the Privacy Policy. You can learn what type of personal information is gathered by the web site and how it is, or isn t, shared with others. If a site does not have a privacy policy posted, you probably don t want to do business with it. Shop with companies located in the United States. When you shop within the U.S., you are protected by state and federal consumer laws. Review the merchant s cancellation, return and complainthandling policies. Even under the best of circumstances, shoppers sometimes need to return merchandise. Be knowledgeable about web-based auctions. Familiarize yourself with the rules and policies of the auction site. Use a credit card to pay for online purchases. In the event something goes wrong, you are protected under the federal Fair Credit Billing Act. You have the right to dispute charges on your credit card. Debit and ATM cards are not protected by federal laws to the extent that credit cards are.
