The report required by the Solicitors Regulation Authority under the Solicitors Accounts Rules 2011 has always been one of the more onerous tasks of the independent accountancy practice. This course will cover the rules solicitors follow and the work the accountant should consider in preparing their report. This course will cover the latest developments and changes to the Reporting Accountant Requirements. It will also provide a useful refresher of the SRA Accounts Rules and how the changes which came into effect in 2015 have impacted the Reporting Accountant. From that date the old SRA Accounts Checklist disappeared and accountants are now expected to exercise their professional judgement in preparing their report. The SRA Accounts Rules 2011 themselves remain to date largely unchanged, but further changes are expected later in 2018 which, if approved, will make the rules far less prescriptive and allow solicitors more flexibility in achieving the desired outcomes.
