2 Kitchener-Waterloo Philatelic Society We welcome you to this, our 63 rd annual Stampfest. It is amazing how all the directors, committees and volunteers work behind the scenes with president Oscar Cormier, to make it all happen! Be sure to check our club website at to see more information about the club, our newsletters, connecting web sites, as well as some previous exhibits. On a sad note we ll miss our stalwart life member Dick Lamb, who passed away in December. There are many reasons to join a busy stamp club like ours. We have a diverse membership including many professionals, rookies, including new retirees, all with varied interests. We are the largest stamp club in Southern Ontario, next to Hamilton and Toronto. In fact we have a show membership special that can start your GRVPA newsletters and other benefits ASAP. (see end) Several activities have kept members busy over the past year including auctions, exhibiting, our website, our regular meetings, and visiting nearby clubs or shows. We support GRVPA* events such as the annual Grand Night, and the Club Fair / auction coming November 9 th with near 15 clubs featuring their trade books. (*GRVPA is Grand River Valley Philatelic Association) Our Royal participation continues and our own member George Pepall is currently president for The Royal Philatelic Society of Canada!! Several members attended the 2012 Royal Show in Edmonton and several plan to attend June 21-23, 2013 in Winnipeg. We have several members involved with the Royal and various other stamp organizations. We are very fortunate to have a number of services available to our members. An active Sales Circuit managed by the Stratford Club. Also we are the only club nearby that has a cover/post card circuit. Table auctions at most meetings and a called auction periodically. We ve had a committee that helped spouses dispose of collections. We have several dealer and member tables at every meeting. Door prizes at every meeting and 50/50 draws periodically. Coffee and cookies are available at all meetings. We are fortunate to have a complete retail store (RJM) in our area. (now at Frederick Mall) Exhibiting is one-way members can share their materials of special interest. We have exhibit contests periodically and welcome one pagers for Show & Tell and for our club web site. Show & Tell time is a regular part of our meetings when members have a couple minutes to show off some new find or a special philatelic item. It is amazing what material is in member s collections. Club members meet on the second Thursday of every month, except July and August, at the Albert McCormick Community Room, Parkside Drive, Waterloo. Meetings run from 7.00pm to 9.00pm. We have presentations at each meeting, such as a speaker, auction or scramble, draws, feature circuit books, cover circuit and half a dozen dealers. Visitors and new members are always welcome. Applications for membership in one of the largest and most progressive Stamp Clubs in the country are available at the Admissions table. We welcome personal or family memberships.
