1 Annual Faculty Review Guidelines Department of Soil and Crop Science Texas A&M University (RevisedDecember2012) INTRODUCTION TheDepartmentofSoilandCropScience(SCSC)proactivelysupportspromotionand/ortenure (P&T)offacultymemberswhocontributesignificantlytotheteaching,research,extensionand servicemissionsofthedepartment,collegeofagricultureandlifesciences,texasa&m AgriLifeResearch,TexasA&MAgriLifeExtensionServiceandTexasA&MUniversity.Assuch, SCSCfollowsallapplicablerulesandoperatingproceduresofTexasA&MUniversityandthe CollegeofAgricultureandLifeSciencesandotheragenciesasapplicableandappropriate. Facultymembersareexpectedtousethefollowingguidelinesinpreparationandsubmissionof packetsfortheannualfacultyreviewprocess. ANNUAL FACULTY REVIEW Annual Review (tenuredandnontenuredfaculty) AnannualreviewwillbeconductedforallfacultymembersattherankofLecturer,Senior Lecturer,DistinguishedLecturer,Instructor,AssistantProfessor,AssociateProfessor,Professor anddistinguishedprofessor.theannualreviewprovidesinformationontheaccomplishments ofthefacultymembertothedepartmentheadandguidancefromthedepartmentheadtothe facultymemberregardingassessmentofprogress. Guidelines for Annual Review AccordingtoUniversityRule M2,eachfacultymembermustbereviewedannually, givenawrittenreportofhisorherevaluation,andmustbegiventheopportunitytodiscussthe outcomeoftheevaluationinperson.eachacademicyear,facultymembersarerequestedto submitinformationrelatedtothefollowingcategoriesinadvanceoftheirannualfacultyreview withthedepartmenthead. TheDepartmentHeadmodifiesthesummarydocument,ifappropriate,baseduponthe inputfromthefacultymemberandreturnstherevisedversiontothefacultymember. Oncethesummarydocumentissatisfactory,theDepartmentHeadandthefaculty membersigntheevaluation. AcopyisprovidedtothefacultymemberandtheDepartmentHeadretainsacopyfor thefacultymember spersonnelfile. AreporttotheDeanofunsatisfactoryperformancewillbeaccompaniedbyawritten planforneartermimprovement.ifafacultymemberreceivesthreeconsecutive unsatisfactoryannualreviews,thenaprofessionalreviewisinitiated.
