Henry Wong Mid-Term Director Daisy Lee Appointed mid-year. Standing for election for the remainder of 2- year term. Candidates completed a Nomination Form and provided supporting information by the closing date of August 18th, 2016 fulfilling the requirements of by-law 7.3. At the close of proceedings, there were 2 nominations received. In accordance to by-law 7.4 b) an election is not required. By means of this notice, the Nominating Committee announces the Slate of Nominees in advance of the September 17 th Annual General Meeting. The Slate of Nominations as Directors is as follows: Dennis Brown Daisy Lee Nominees Background Dennis Brown I grew up in Nanaimo where I completed high school and attended Malaspina College. I started playing badminton at the Nanaimo Junior Club at age 8 and eventually joined the Nanaimo Senior Club and the Oddfellow's Club. My volunteering for badminton started immediately after juniors when I took over running the Junior Club. I also helped run the Nanaimo Senior Tournament for a few years and the Oddfellow's club tournament. In 1971 I moved to Vancouver to attend UBC and complete my Bachelor of Commerce Degree. While at UBC I was a member of the UBC badminton team and was team manager in my final year. I joined the Vancouver Racquets Club in 1975 and have been a member ever since. I've been a competitive player all my life and I still compete on the Masters Circuit. I have been very involved at VRC having served on the board as Treasurer, Badminton Director, Fitness Director, Director at Large, and Planning Committee member. I have run many VRC tournaments and ladder programs over the years. 3 P a g e O f f i c i a l N o t i c e o f A n n u a l G e n e r a l M e e t i n g
4 I was also involved with the Lower Mainland Badminton Assoc where I served as Tournament Coordinator for 3 years running the City Championships, a "B"Tournament, and the Masters Tournament. I continued to be involved with the Masters tournament and am still involved today. After the Lower Mainland Assoc disbanded VRC took over running the tournament. In recent years Frank Price and I have become very familiar with Tournament Software and we have worked together on committees for the VRC Masters, VRC Juniors, and the 2015 BC Masters. After university I obtained my C.M.A. designation. My work history includes 2 long term positions. I worked for Brewer's Distributors Ltd (owned by Labatt's and Molson's) from 1982 to 1996 as Accountant, Accounting Supervisor and finally Regional Accounting Manager and for Gordon Latham Ltd, a major plumbing and heating company, from 1998 to 2011 as controller. Both of these positions gave me extensive experience in all aspects of financial reporting, budgeting, cash flow analysis, and preparation of audit working papers. I now consider myself semi-retired and I work part-time. Outside of badminton I like the outdoors and enjoy biking, tennis, and kayaking. I have lived in a condo in Kitsilano for almost 30 years and have been very involved with my strata council where I currently serve as treasurer. I prepare financial reports for every Council meeting, work with our property manager to prepare the annual budget, do long term planning for major expenditures and assist in preparing resolutions for AGMs. Working part-time I have the time to commit to a position on The Badminton BC Board and I feel my background will enable me to provide a valuable contribution. Daisy Lee Is a Project Management Professional with a certificate in operations management, and technology and robotics. Passionate about Badminton and a strong advocate for service to member clubs, badminton players and parents of junior badminton players. Honoured by VRC as a long term volunteer and recognized for leadership in excellence from TELUS Health and its program service to over 35,000 employees. Daisy is motivated to create a program where you re-use badminton bags, gear, rackets for kids that are in school or community centers (many badminton players have old gear and rackets that they no longer use, and can t really sell it for money. I think using this program many will benefits. School kids can have an opportunity to get to know the sport more and try it out. To drive membership Badminton BC needs to create a program that shows the general public what Badminton BC is actually doing. A monthly newsletter outlining all the accomplishments, or at least the road map to create awareness, and the value of membership and its benefits. In the newsletter, it is more about promoting what Badminton BC does for the community and the benefits and impact that Badminton BC has made. Daisy is a provincially and nationally ranked Masters player and has spent 16 years in operations and project management leading multi-functional teams focused on achieving results oriented corporate objectives. 4 P a g e O f f i c i a l N o t i c e o f A n n u a l G e n e r a l M e e t i n g
