4 FSMK invites t: NATIONAL MEETING ON DOCTORAL EDCUATION IN MEDIA AND COMMUNICATION RESEARCH When: 4th May, Where: Rm B153, Eknmikum, Kyrkgårdsgatan 10, Uppsala University D register n later than 15 April t gunbritt.wass@im.uu.se The need fr better crdinatin f dctral curses within ur discipline has been discussed at varius levels fr quite sme time. There have als been cncrete effrts t establish a Swedish netwrk with this purpse but yet there is n frmalized structure. The advantages f a frmalized netwrk are related t, e g, the scpe f the aggregate curse fferings, student mbility and netwrking, and the ptential fr invlvement in internatinal, especially Nrdic (NrdFrsk), c-prductin prjects. Hwever, a natinal netwrk fr dctral educatin can be rganized in many different ways, demanding different amunts f resurces. Therefre, it needs t be discussed what kind f cllabrative structure wuld be mst suitable, if any. The Uppsala meeting, initiated by FSMK, welcmes especially thse wh are respnsible fr r actively invlved in research prgrammes within the mkv area. In rder t make the meeting as cnstructive as pssible, all departments that ffer dctral educatin (thrugh their wn prgramme r thrugh agreement) are encuraged t send their representatives preferably, at least, the prgramme leader and a dctral student. General agenda fr the meeting: Mapping f nging activities: Hw d different departments rganize their dctral educatin tday? What cllabratins are already established? Identificatin f shared needs and resurces: At what levels d we need further cllabratin tday and in the future, e g, in terms f infrmatin disseminatin, curse crdinatin and c-prductin? What shuld be the rle f a ptential cperatin netwrk? What are the available and ptential resurces, e g, in terms f funding and established structures (such as FSMK)?
