Are you selling your home this spring? Here are five easy steps to take to make sure you receive the best value. Hire the right agent. You may know many agents, but which one is right for you? Find out by asking questions including how they will market your home, if they will be the only agent representing you, how they will communicate with you, what is their availability, have they sold in this area before and how busy are they right now. And definitely get referrals! Time it right. Selling a home is a big deal. You ll need to give yourself enough time to hire the right agent, then work with the agent to properly market your home while you find a new one. Your agent will be able to give you a realistic timeline on how long this process should take. Execute a strategic marketing plan. The more you target the right buyers, the more offers you could get which may lead to a higher sale price. You will know how much house you can afford, and sellers will know you are a serious buyer with the ability to get the financing needed. A pre-approval lets buyers know the amount they can borrow based on credit, income and liabilities. It also may give buyers the chance to fix any issues with their credit, or improve their credit score, so when they apply for a mortgage, they may receive a more favorable interest rate. In the market we are in, sellers won t consider an offer unless the potential buyer has a pre-approval. If you joined us at last year s Walk, your efforts greatly improved the lives of those less fortunate. Funds raised from Walk Home 2017: Provided 250 children with winter coats, hats and mittens along with new beds and bedding Helped 337 households transition from homelessness to housing Supplied 2,500 hygiene products for homeless teenagers attending a high school in Boston That s the difference Walk Home can make! We hope you can join us to make this year s Walk the most successful yet. Walk Home 2018 will be held in three locations: Waltham Common, Danvers Rail Trail and Dorchester Park. Welcome to Dan McElhinney, RTN s New Regional Branch Manager an McElhinney recently joined RTN as Regional Branch Manager. He is a 32-year banking D and finance professional, having served in similar roles throughout his career, most recently at Commerce Bank & Trust in Boston. Dan has extensive experience in retail banking leadership, consumer lending and security and audit functions. He currently serves on the Executive Board of Directors of the Jackson Mann Community Center in Allston, MA as Treasurer. Dan will oversee the Metrowest Region for RTN, which includes the Hudson, Worcester and Marlborough branches. 5 James A. Burley, Jr. Scholarship Contest RTN now is accepting entries for the annual James A. Burley, Jr. Scholarship Contest. The contest honors former RTN chairman and director James A. Burley, Jr., who served the Credit Union for more than 32 years. Prizes include: First place $5,000 Second place $3,000 Third place $2,000 Students must complete an application and write an essay. The contest is open to full-time college students who are RTN members or are dependents of members in good standing as of April 1, Entries must be received by external mail service only, including the US Postal Service, Federal Express or UPS.
