What changed? Prior to September 15, 2017, an ACH transaction typically could take 24 to 48 hours to post to your account. Now an ACH transaction can be processed and post to your account the same day it is made. Be aware a check written to a merchant can be processed as an ACH transaction and therefor also be subject to same day processing. What did NOT change? Same day ACH processing does NOT affect your pre-authorized recurring electronic payments, such as your mortgage payments or insurance payments. Why did it change? This rule change was required by the National Automated Clearing House Association (NACHA) to ensure ACH transactions are processed more efficiently for all consumers, businesses, and financial institutions.
