2 OUR STORY In 1964, Port Authority Employees in New York and New Jersey established a credit union to provide a source of credit at a fair interest rate, and offer an opportunity for its members to improve their economic and social conditions. In 1996, the Board of Directors expanded the field of membership to include all federal agencies, municipalities, associations and other diverse companies and organizations. At this time we changed our name to XCEL Federal Credit Union to reflect this growing field of membership. XCEL was headquartered in the World Trade Center until 9/11, when we moved to Northern New Jersey. In 2009, we established our permanent headquarters in Bloomfield, NJ. As we look to the future, our vision is to grow the credit union through the expansion of new employment groups, while maintaining our focus on delivering high quality products and services to our membership. WHO CAN JOIN? XCEL Federal Credit Union membership is open to any individual who works for, or belongs to any of the many companies and organizations that we serve. As an added benefit, immediate family members will be eligible for membership as well. Once you become a member at XCEL FCU, you can remain a member for life, regardless of where you live or work.
