4 MOBILE/MANUFACTURED HOME PROGRAM DESCRIPTIONS: Manufactured Homes (commonly called Mobile Homes) These are homes that are built entirely in the factory under a federal building code administered by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). The HUD code went into effect June 15, Manufactured homes may be single- or multi-section. They are transportable permanent housing built on a non removable chassis and designed to be used as a dwelling with or without a permanent foundation. Running gear consisting of wheels, axles, suspension, and towing equipment may be removed while the mobile home is being lived in, but must be capable of being reinstalled. The name change from mobile home to manufactured home occurred in 1980 as designated by HUD. Mobile Homes This is the term used for factory-built homes produced prior to June 15, 1976, when the HUD Code went into effect. By 1970, these homes were built to voluntary industry standards that were eventually enforced by 45 of the 48 contiguous states. They are transportable permanent housing built on a chassis and designed to be used as a dwelling with or without a permanent foundation. Running gear consisting of wheels, axles, suspension, and towing equipment may be removed while the mobile home is being lived in, but must be capable of being reinstalled. PERILS INSURED AGAINST: The Perils Insured Against are the Basic and Broad Form Perils listed in the Home Protector and the Farm Protector policy. Please refer back to the Homeowner section of this manual for the town perils and the Farm Property section for the farm perils. OPTIONAL COVERAGES: The same optional coverages for the Homeowner or Farm Owner policies are available for mobile/manufactured homes. Please refer back to the Homeowner or Farm Property section of this manual for those options. Optional coverage specific to Mobile/Manufactured Homes are listed below. MOBILE/MANUFACTURED HOME ENDOREMENT (FMIC /08): This endorsement changes coverage A description to the Mobile/Manufactured Home. ADDITIONAL SECURED PARTY S INTEREST COVERAGE (FMIC /08) This optional endorsement is used to provide coverage to a secured party for loss caused by collision, conversion, embezzlement, and secretion of a mobile/manufactured home.
