6 Grass Pick-up (revised) Please be advised that the Township of Clark will remain handling grass removal. The Department of Public Works will begin removing bagged grass from residents starting May 1, 2018 (TUESDAY Pick-ups). The Township will issue the first bundle of bags (10 per resident), and then residents will be responsible for purchasing additional biodegradable bags. Additional bags can be purchased at Ace Hardware on Westfield Avenue in Clark or any retailer of your choice. We encourage residents to mulch their grass. For additional information on grass mulching you can visit our webpage at and click the DPW tab. Grass Bag Distribution: Bags will be distributed 9am to 1pm at the DPW Garage: April 7th, 14th, 21st, & 28th. If you cannot pick up your bundle on the designated pick-up days bags will be available at Town Hall in Room 26 (APRIL ONLY) Monday-Friday 8:30am- 3:30PM. Please note ID will be required! GRASS 2018 PICK-UP SCHEDULE (TUESDAYS) May: 1, 8, 15, 22 & 29 June: 5, 12, 19, & 26 July: 3, 10, 17, 24, & 31 August: 7, 14, 21, & 28 September: 4, 11, 18, & 25 October: 2 & 9 If your grass isn t removed on the designated Tuesday please allow an extra day for DPW to remove the bags NO PLASTIC BAGS Please note that DPW will not remove grass unless it is bagged in biodegradable bags. 8 Spring Clean-up: Mid-March through the end of April. Please place the following items out in the street; leaves, lawn debris and small branches only. Please do not block catch basins. Branch Pick-up: April through September (weather permitting). Branch pick-up will be the 4th week of the month. Please place branches out in the street on the 3rd week to ensure pickup: April 15th, May 13th, June 17th, July 15th, August 19th, and September 16th. Leaf Pick-up: Starts the end of October and runs through December. Please place leaves in the street (a foot from the curb to allow for water flow). Please do not block catch basins. If branches are mixed with leaves they will not be removed. Appliance Pick-up: March through October pick-up on Mondays by Appointment ONLY. Please contact DPW by 3pm the Thursday before to schedule your appointment. i.e., washers, dryers, grill (without propane), refrigerators, & metal items. Electronic Drop-off (Residents ONLY): Equipment can be dropped off at the DPW Garage behind the Police Department on the last Saturday of each month between the hours of 9am and 1pm. Acceptable equipment: computers, printers, keyboards, monitors, scanners, televisions, fax machines, and 4-8 round & u-shaped fluorescent light bulks. Schedule: Jan 27th, Feb 24th, Apr 28th, June 30th, July 28th, Aug 25th, Sept 29th, and Oct 27th. Motor Oil Drop Off: Used motor oil can be dropped off at the DPW yard located behind the Police Station Monday-Friday from 9am to 1pm. Please do not leave empty containers. Clark Paper Shredding Event: June 6th at DPW 9am-1pm or until truck is full. Christmas Trees can be placed curbside starting the end of December through end of January. Shade Tree Services Please call DPW with any of your Shade Tree concerns such as trimming, take downs, dead, or diseased trees. Please be advised that a permit is required to cut down any tree(s) on your property (no cost). All contractors are responsible to remove all debris! For Union County Recycling Events please call them directly at :
9 TAX /SEWER BILLS Any questions relating to tax bills and sewer bills can be made directly to the tax collector at: Tax Office: Sewer: The Township of Clark Department of Tax Collections is responsible for processing billing and payments for both property taxes and sewer utilities. Tax Bills are mailed out in late June each year. Tax payments are due February 1 st, May 1 st, August 1 st, and November 1 st. Sewer Utility bills are mailed out in February. You have the option to pay this bill in one installment, or two equal installments, the first due March 15 th and the second September 15 th. We offer a 10-Day grace period for both Sewer Utility and Tax payments. If the 10 th of the month lands on a weekend or holiday the grace period is extended to the next business day. MAKE A PAYMENT ON-LINE: 1) Go to and scroll down to Pay Taxes Online which is located on the bottom right hand side. Click on Pay Here. 2) Find your home through one of the searches, then click on Make Payment 3) Follow payment instructions * If paying by Electronic Check the convenience fee is $1.05 * If paying by Visa Debit card the convenience fee is $3.95 * If paying by All Other Debit/Credit cards the fee will be approximately 2.95% of your total bill. *Please note that there is a $20 fee for all returned checks. HOW TO MAKE A PAYMENT IN PERSON: We accept cash, check or money order at the Tax Collection Office located in Town Hall at 430 Westfield Avenue. Hours: Monday Friday 8:30 A.M. to 4:00 P.M. 10 10 TAX OFFICE ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ATTENTION SENIOR RESIDENTS: PROPERTY TAX RELIEF PROGRAMS Seniors, Surviving Spouses and the Disabled are eligible for $250 Property Tax Deduction Homeowners who are Senior Citizens; (65+) or under 65 receiving Social Security Disability Benefits can apply for the property tax deduction. Income must be less than $10,000 excluding Social Security, (for married couples it is the combined income). Applications are to be submitted to the Assessor s Office in Town Hall. Veterans and Widows of Veterans are eligible for a $250 Property Tax Deduction. To qualify you must have served active duty during time of war, (DD-214 required as proof). Must have been honorably discharged. Must live in the home as your owner occupied home. No income requirement. Applications are to be submitted to the Assessor s office in Town Hall. New Jersey Homestead Benefit administered by the State of New Jersey Must be a NJ resident You must have owned and occupied the home as your primary home as of 10/1 of the prior year. Your property taxes must be current. You have to meet certain income limits which are subject to the current year State budget. Best way to apply is by phone: New Jersey Property Tax Reimbursement (PTR) Program, (a.k.a., Property Tax Freeze Program) Homeowners who are Senior Citizens; (65+) or under 65 receiving Social Security Disability Benefits can apply for the property tax deduction.
