Dees, Glynn County Refund of Interest and Penalties Paid on Parcel# for 2014 Mr. James Young, owner of JL Y Properties LLC, states that he never received the 2014 tax bill notice for parcel When he was informed, by third party, that the 2014 tax bill had not been paid he immediately sent a check to pay the taxes. He continues stating he moved to Blythe Island in June of 2014 and submitted a forwarding address request to the post office at that time. This refund request was originally sent before the Finance Committee back on July 7, At That time the s office requested a denial of the request which was approved. However, our office has since been informed by the Post Office that the tax bill in question was not forwarded in error. The forwarding address request was not followed due to computer issues of the post office. In light of the new information, the s office is requesting the approval of the above mentioned refund to JL Y Properties LLC in the amount of $ P.O. The tax notices were being mailed to the address of 135 Newfield Street for which Mr. Young still owns. Our office did not receive a request for a change of address until June 8, JIY Properties LLC tax bill was returned stamped return to sender not deliverable as addressed. My name is James Young and I O"\\/n a property Blythe lslaj1d Hwy, in Brunswick that we recently found to have missed the 2014 tax payment. The property is O\\ned under my LLC, JL Y Properties. and taxes are paid via my leaseholder, Tidewater Equipment Co. My CFO told me on 6/15/15 that our company had not paid the 2014 tax bill for this property. I immediately researched and sent someone over with a check for the amount due on the Glynn County GlS website. She was turned away and told the payment did not include any late fees and interest. I have never received anything regarding this bill and my personal and professional record can speak for itself as 1 do not ever miss any payments. I did move in 2014 ( 6/2014) to another residence and did a change of address thru our postal service. I also still (unfortunately) own my old home and check the mail every day. Less than three weeks ago. I received my annual assessment letter for the Brunswick property at my old address. My guess is that the for"\\/arding only goes for one year. The day I received the notice, 1 downloaded a change of address forn1 from your vvebsite and hand deliwred it to your office. Again, this would have been a golden opportunity to inform me of the tax in arrears; however. they may not have pulled my account. I have been the one that determined. without any notice from Glynn County, that the bill was in arrears and I also have done everything your office asked "\\/ithin days. I personally took the check to your office yesterday to meet with you around 11 :30 am and you were at lunch. Another clerk called me back and asked that she return the check I left for $3, and that I pay the penalty amount (she then provided) before ing you a letter stating my case. She said you would take it before a board (not sure what board) and determine if I get my $ late fee back. While I find no fault with your office, i am very concerned that we, as a county government, cannot make good common sense judgements quickly to save citizens time and anguish over something that is out of their control. I would love to ask our governing body to allow you to make these decisions without any of this unnecessary protocol. Please let me know what to do next. For your convenience, I have attached a copy of the original tax bill. The original bill was $3, and the amount given to us yesterday (and paid today to your office) is $ That is $ more.
