ATAF will develop work on domestic taxes issues. This technical meeting invites VAT exerts from member countries to discuss a variety of VAT-related issues. The result of the meeting will be the formation of a Technical Committee on VAT The meeting will review roles of country correspondents and seek ways of improving them. Activities for 2016 and plan for 2017 will form the basis of engagement. The objective is to discuss and develop the research design to be implemented in conducting field country studies; define clear Customs Compliance Training and a Technical assistance/join audit programmes. 2 24 ATAF/UNECA Side event on Trade Mispricing on the margins of the Ministers of Finance Meeting Short Course on Compliance Risk Management and Fraud Detection discuss and analyse the latest developments in the relevant work of the UN Tax Committee and of the OECD on BEPS Objectives of the Side Event are to: Raise awareness on the revenues lost to trade mispricing; Sensitise ministers of finance of current activities being undertaken by African stakeholders of combating IFFs; Gain Ministerial support to increase nexus between Customs and Tax administrations among others This is an introductory course aimed at enhancing participants risk profiling capabilities and means of detecting and managing fraud. 3 Diplomatic Representatives 6-7 April Independent Technical Assistance Panel meeting April Short Course on Revenue Forecasting and Analysis (French) The first meeting of the Panel will discuss the series of demand-driven requests that have come through to ATAF. It will also map out how request should be handled or declined This is a course to be conducted in French that aims at introducing participants to concepts of forecasting revenue and analysing trends using available statics for management decision making. The ATRN creates potential synergies and linkage areas between academics and tax officials from ATAF member countries. Meeting ICT Workshop Training of Trainers (Francophone) As part of the CBT Technical Committee s awareness campaign, a workshop for East and Southern Africa s is scheduled to highlight the treaties issues encountered post-beps as well as in the technical assistance through the country programmes Members of the Technical Committee will report back to Secretariat on progress made in development of practical tools to assist members in VAT-related challenges such as fraud and compliance.
