Resolution No. Contract Public Hearing Staff Report Summary Statement: Pam Audette, manager of the Marina Inn, Anacortes, has been recommended as a new member of the Lodging Tax Committee. Ms. Audette will fill the seat left by Nancy Dalton who resigned late last year. This position fulfills the requirement to have 3 members from each category on the committee as Ms. Audette represents a business required to collect the tax. The remaining members - Mark Lione, Russ Olivier, Erik Schorr, Andy Stewart, Karla Locke, and Matt Miller as Chair - have confirmed they would like to serve another year. Background: State law requires the City establish a Lodging Tax Advisory Committee ( LTAC ) to review and comment on any proposals/requests for tourism funding prior to passage of the proposal. The Committee membership must be appointed by the City Council and must include: at least 3 members who are representatives of businesses required to collect the tax; at least 3 members who are persons involved in activities authorized to be funded by revenue received from the tax; a City elected official, who must serve as chair of the committee. The number of members in (a) must be equal to the number of members in (b). Persons who are eligible for appointment under (a) are not eligible for appointment under (b). 2 Recommended Motion: I move to approve appointment of Pam Audette as a new member of the Lodging Tax Advisory Committee and approve appointment of Matt Miller as Chair, Mark Lione, Erik Schorr, Russ Olivier, Andy Stewart and Carla Locke as committee members to represent the City in the review and recommendation of projects that encourage tourism in Anacortes.
