14 IRAM Tool principles I. The inspection frequency is determined by the highest impact score II. III. IV. The inspection frequency is reduced by one step, if the set number of highest scores called the rule is not met The inspection frequency can be changed by one step up or down based on operator performance The higher the sum of scores, the longer the inspection time

15 Examples If the rule = 1, only 1 highest score is enough, then the Risk category = 5 If the rule = 2, 2 highest scores are needed, then the Risk category is lowered by one step (Risk category = 4). If the rule = 1, only 1 highest score is enough, then the Risk category = 5; If the rule = 2, 2 highest scores are needed, then the Risk category stays 5; If the rule = 3, 3 highest scores are needed, then the Risk category is lowered by one step (Risk category = 4).

16 Impact of the operator performance «OP» The inspection frequency can be changed by one step up or down based on operator performance Reminder RISK = PROBABILITY x IMPACT? Operator performance Thresholds / Scales Combination of sub-criteria like operator attidude, level of compliance, EMAS. OP is scored with «-1» (=good), «0» (=moderate) and «+1» (=bad).

18 Example: Inspection object 1: Impact of the operator performance «OP» The operator performance of this inspection object is good: OPC = -1 This means: 1 point is subtracted from each impact score; The impact scores are turned into risk scores. IC 1 = RC Assuming the rule = 1, then one highest score is enough, so the Risk category = 4 Assuming the rule = 2, then 1 highest is not enough, so the Risk category = 3

19 INSPECTION PROGRAMME Priority to activities posing higher risk + Priority to impact criteria with higher scores More efficient inspection activities Note: IED Directive specifies, The period between two site visits shall not exceed 1 year for installations posing the highest risks and 3 years for installations posing the lowest risks. (in specific cases: 6 months)
