4 I n t r oduction LexisNexis CLUE Auto is an automobile claims history information exchange that enables insurance companies to access prior claim information from the CLUE personal automobile claims repository These claims contain information such as dollar amounts of losses by claim type, age of loss, carrier, policyholder, driver and vehicle identification information CLUE information is based on claims information that has been provided to LexisNexis Risk Solutions Inc or its predecessor entity by participating insurance carriers CLUE Auto reports include all losses reported to LexisNexis for a period of up to seven years, based on your customer account setup Additionally, the following optional report enhancements are available: LexisNexis Driver Discovery - additional drivers in a household See LexisNexis Driver Discovery How to Read for more detailed product information LexisNexis Current Carrier - past or present lapses in insurance coverage See LexisNexis Current Carrier Auto How to Read the Report for more detailed product information LexisNexis Home Owners Verification (HOV) - verifies if subject is the listed owner of the address See LexisNexis Home Ownership Verification How to Read the Report for more detailed product information VIN-D-Code - vehicle descriptions based on VIN (vehicle identification number) LexisNexis VIN Services - verifies a VIN, the owner and additional vehicles at a specific address The information shown in this document is representative of the display of CLUE Auto reports through the LexisNexis Insurance Solutions portal System-to-system customers can go to techdoccusthelpcom and refer to the following documentation related to the product: LexisNexis CLUE Auto Technical Information Packet LexisNexis CLUE Auto EDITS Results PTD LexisNexis CLUE Auto EDITS Inquiry PTD LexisNexis EDITS Results Records (v2) LexisNexis EDITS Inquiry Records (v2) This document is designed to help you understand the report Each section of the report provides essential definitions and tables 4

5 R e p ort Header Section The Report Header section includes information that identifies your specific report Report Header Field Descriptions Field Order Date Complete Date Case ID Description Date and time that the order was placed Date and time that the order was completed Unique identifier for this report as submitted by the requester Case ID is listed on the report twice Quoteback Account Node/Location User ID Special Billing ID Unique identifier for this report as submitted by the requester Requester s LexisNexis account number Unique LexisNexis-assigned identifier for your business location Requester s LexisNexis user identification Alphanumeric field that may be submitted by you or programmatically set up by LexisNexis This is an option that must be set up with your customer manager Reference Number Processing Status Report identification number for the requested report If you have questions about your report, provide this number to a LexisNexis representative when you call customer support Current status of the report Processing Status Messages The processing status field describes various conditions related to the execution of your requested report You receive a processing status for your order regardless of what events occurred during the processing of that report 5

6 The following table lists possible processing statuses, each with a description Processing Status Descriptions Processing Status Processing complete with results information Processing completed results clear Not processed; product unavailable Not processed; invalid account number Insufficient search data Description Processing completed successfully, and based on the type of report requested, there are losses and/or additional drivers returned on the report Processing completed successfully, and based on the type of report requested, there are no losses and/or additional drivers returned The CLUE Auto system was not available for processing The account number on the order is not configured to allow for CLUE orders The order is missing significant information and cannot perform a search on the claims database Minimum order requirements are full name and full address Not processed; errors Processing complete; CLUE and Current Carrier not ordered Other errors not represented by one of the codes above HOV Only processed; CLUE Auto and Current Carrier not ordered G e n eral Information Section The General Information section summarizes the information included in the report The information returned in the General Information section falls into two categories: Recap and Messages 6

7 Recap The Recap section provides an overview of what data returns in the report This information may include: The number of Subject claims reported The number of Vehicle claims reported The number of PRC (possible related claims) claims reported Messages The Messages section contains general messages about the report The following table describes messages that indicate the report processed successfully or that problems prevented your order from being processed correctly Messages Descriptions Message Processing Complete w/ Results Ineligible Search Request Insufficient Data for Request Invalid Account Not on File Search Not Requested No Additional Driver(s) Reported Processing Delayed State not Available Subject Deceased Indicator on File Description Search processing was complete, and results found Invalid state entered for account number; request not processed Insufficient data was entered to conduct search; request not processed Invalid account number entered; report not processed No claims found on subject or VIN A search was not requested for the subject or vehicle The Driver Discovery search did not find any additional drivers The Driver Discovery database (for a particular state) was temporarily unavailable for processing The Driver Discovery request was for a state not yet available on the database Indicates a deceased indicator on file for the subject submitted on the inquiry 7

8 S e a r ch Information Section The Search Information section displays the search criteria provided when you initiated the request V e h i cle Information Section The Vehicle Information section details the vehicles on which the report was ordered The following table describes the fields in the Vehicle Information section Field Descriptions Field VIN Year Make and Model Description VIN for one of the subjects of the report Year in which the vehicle was manufactured Manufacturer (make) of the vehicle and the model of the vehicle 8

9 R e p orted Claims History The Reported Claims History section of the CLUE Auto Underwriter report may contain subject, vehicle, and PRC subsections The claims are grouped by subject, vehicle, and PRC in descending date order The Reported Claim History section includes loss information found in the CLUE Auto system that sufficiently matches the search criteria Reported Claims History - Subject The Reported Claims History - Subject section contains information about claims related to the subject The results are grouped by subject See "Reported Claims History Field Descriptions" on page 11 for field descriptions 9

10 Reported Claims History - Vehicle The Reported Claims History - Vehicle section contains information about claims related to the VIN submitted on the inquiry when the report service type selected includes a VIN search These claims may or may not be associated with the subject See "Reported Claims History Field Descriptions" on page 11 for field descriptions Two types of VIN losses may return on the report: Full Scope VIN Loss A loss where there is an exact match on the VIN and a subset of the subject's SPII (sensitive personally identifiable information) In this case, the SPII on the inquiry matches the SPII on the claim, and all contributed SPII returns on the report Limited Scope VIN Loss A loss where there is an exact match on the VIN only This is a loss for the vehicle from the prior owner The SPII on the inquiry does not match the SPII on the claim Name, address, DOB (date of birth), SSN (Social Security number), and driver license number does not return on the Limited Scope VIN Loss 10

11 Possible Related Claims - Based on Address CLUE Auto returns PRCs when there is a match found on the address and at least one other data element, such as last name, driver license number, or policy number These claims may or may not be related to subject See "Reported Claims History Field Descriptions" on page 11 for field descriptions Reported Claims History Field Descriptions The following table describes the fields that can be returned in the Reported Claims History of the report Reported Claims History Field Descriptions Field Claim Date Claim Age Claim Number Policy Type Policy Number Carrier Name Policy Holder Vehicle Operator Description Date the claim occurred (Date of Loss) Age of the claim in years and months Number of the reported claim Policy type that the claim was filed under Possible values: CY - Motorcycle MH - Motor Home PA - Personal Auto Policy number of the insurance policy related to the claim Name of the insurance carrier related to the claim Name of the policy holder of the insurance policy related to the claim Name of the vehicle operator related to the claim 11

12 Reported Claims History Field Descriptions (Continued) Field Fault Indicator Date of Birth Gender SSN Address Driver License Number License State First Payment Date VIN Vehicle Vehicle Disposition The contributed fault value for the claim Possible values: At Fault California BI Principally at Fault California PD Principally at Fault Description Catastrophe No Fault Partial Fault Undetermined Unknown or Unreported If a loss contains a Catastrophe fault indicator, all customers will receive this status regardless of at-fault contribution specs This information is only returned if your account is setup for it and you participate in contributing that data to the LexisNexis contributory database and the information was contributed by the contributing carrier DOB of the vehicle operator or policy holder, depending on who was matched Gender of the vehicle operator or policy holder, depending on who was matched Possible values: F - Female M - Male SSN of the vehicle operator or policy holder, depending on who was matched Address of the vehicle operator or policy holder, depending on who was matched Driver license number of the vehicle operator or policy holder, depending on who was matched Driver license issuing state of the vehicle operator or policy holder, depending on who was matched Date the first payment was made related to claim This information is only returned if your account is setup for it and you participate in contributing that data to the LexisNexis contributory database and the information was contributed by the contributing carrier VIN for the vehicle associated with the claim Year the vehicle was made and description of the vehicle associated with this claim Vehicle disposition or status of the vehicle associated with the claim Possible values: Damaged No Compensation Other Repaired Stolen Totaled 12

13 Reported Claims History Field Descriptions (Continued) Claim Type Field Claim Disposition Amount Paid CLUE File Number Date Filed, By, Relation, and Narrative Type of the claim Possible values: BI - Bodily Injury CO - Collision CP - Comprehensive GL - Glass ME - Medical Expense MP - Medical Payment OT - Other Description PD - Property Damage PI - Personal Injury Protection RR - Rental Reimbursement SL - Spousal Liability TL - Towing and Labor UM - Uninsured Motorist UN - Underinsured Motorist Refer to "Appendix A - Claim Types" on page 14 for definitions and examples of the claim types Status of the claim Possible values: Closed Open Peril Not Covered Subrogation Under Deductible Withdrawn Amount paid on each claim type listed Unique file number of the claim If a consumer has issued a consumer statement, this is where the information appears Indicates that the loss information does not match the search criteria The claim association indicator The symbol indicates what information from the inquiry (DOB, SSN, or driver license number) was matched to return the result on the report 13

14 A p p endix A - Claim Types Claim types return as a part of the CLUE Auto report Bodily Injury (BI) Coverage for the loss resulting in bodily injury Collision (CO) Coverage for the loss resulting from the striking of another object by a moving vehicle Comprehensive (CP) All-risk physical damage protection for automobiles except for loss by collision May also be displayed on an automobile insurance policy as Other Than Collision Glass (GL) Losses resulting in damage to a vehicle s windshield or other windows Medical Expense (ME) Insurance providing for payment of medical, surgical, and hospital expenses Medical Payments (MP) Protection to pay the cost of medical care to injured parties Property Damage (PD) Protection covering the insured's legal liability for damage to property of others caused by insured's negligence Personal Injury Protection (PI) Also known as no-fault insurance, providing insurance for medical costs, loss of earnings, additional living expenses, and funeral costs for occupants of the insured automobile and pedestrians other than those insured under other policies Rental Reimbursement (RR) Insurance which reimburses an automobile owner for the cost of renting a replacement automobile if the insured vehicle is rendered unusable by an insured peril Spousal Liability (SL) Provides bodily injury coverage under a private passenger automobile policy to cover the liability of an insured spouse because of the death of or injury to his or her spouse where the insured spouse is culpable for the injury or death Towing/Labor Charges (TL) An extension of an automobile physical damage policy that covers the cost of towing the insured car or providing emergency road service 14

15 Uninsured Motorist Coverage (UM) Protection for the insured against bodily injury or property damage caused by the negligence of an uninsured motorist Underinsured Motorist (UN) Protection for the insured against bodily injury damage caused by the negligence of an underinsured motorist Other (OT) Claim types that are not described in any of the other defined categories Examples: Miscellaneous, Stolen Articles, and Accidental Death and Dismemberment 15
