64 Business Income Payment Options: MONTHLY LIMITATION IF MONTHLY LIMITATION, SUCH AS 1/4, 1/3, 1/6, ETC, IS SELECTED AND SHOWN ON THE POLICY DECLARATIONS, WE DO NOT COVER MORE THAN THE MONTHLY LIMIT DURING ANY 30 CONSECUTIVE DAYS. MONTHLY LIMITATION IS THE PREFERRED PAYMENT METHOD BY MOST CARRIERS, AGENCIES AND INSUREDS. MONTHLY LIMITATION EXAMPLE: LIMIT = $100,000 MONTHLY LIMITATION = 1/4 WE PAY NO MORE THAN $25,000 ($100,000 / 1/4) DURING ANY CONSECUTIVE DAYS IF THE ACTUAL AMOUNT OF LOSS IS DAYS 1 30 $30,000 DAYS $25,000 DAYS $10,000 TOTAL $65,000 WE PAY DAYS 1 30 $25,000 DAYS $25,000 DAYS $10,000 TOTAL $60,000 WE DO NOT PAY THE REMAINING $5,000 SINCE THE AMOUNT OF LOSS DURING THE FIRST 30 DAYS WAS MORE THAN THE MONTHLY LIMIT ALLOWED FOR. Page 16 of 22

65 Business Income Payment Options: (continued) COINSURANCE IF COINSURANCE IS SELECTED, WE ONLY PAY A PART OF THE LOSS IF THE LIMIT IS LESS THAN THE COINSURANCE PERCENTAGE MULTIPLIED BY THE SUM OF YOUR NET INCOME, PAYROLL EXPENSE, INTEREST, AND OTHER CONTINUING OPERATING EXPENSES PROJECTED FOR THE 12 MONTHS FOLLOWING THE INCEPTION OR LAST PREVIOUS ANNIVERSARY DATE OF THE POLICY (WHICHEVER IS LATER) NORMALLY EARNED BY YOUR BUSINESS. OUR PART OF THE LOSS IS DETERMINED USING THE FOLLOWING STEPS: A. MULTIPLY THE COINSURANCE PERCENTAGE BY THE SUM OF YOUR NET INCOME, PAYROLL EXPENSE, INTEREST, AND OTHER CONTINUING OPERATING EXPENSES PROJECTED FOR THE 12 MONTHS FOLLOWING THE INCEPTION OR PREVIOUS ANNIVERSARY B. DIVIDE THE LIMIT BY THE FIGURE DETERMINED IN A. ABOVE C. MULTIPLY THE TOTAL AMOUNT OF LOSS BY THE FIGURE DETERMINED IN 2.B. ABOVE. WE PAY THE AMOUNT DETERMINED IN C. ABOVE OR THE LIMIT, WHICHEVER IS LESS. COINSURANCE EXAMPLE: NET INCOME $100,000 COINSURANCE 80% LIMIT $50,000 LOSS $20,000 STEP A: $100,000 X 80% = $80,000 (MINIMUM LIMIT REQUIRED TO MEET COINSURANCE REQUIREMENT) STEP B: $50,000 LIMIT DIVIDED BY $80,000 AMOUNT REQUIRED =.63 STEP C: $20,000 (LOSS) X.63(COINSURANCE FACTOR) = $12,600 IN THIS EXAMPLE, THE INSURED WAS UNDERINSURED AND THE TOTAL CLAIM WOULD NOT BE PAID.
