4 Group Universal Life Insurance Group Universal Life Insurance (GUL) is more than just a typical life insurance plan. While it lets you buy a very substantial sum of life insurance coverage for yourself, as well as your spouse/domestic partner and children, you can also use it to save money while earning tax-deferred interest at a guaranteed rate. Choose life insurance only, or life insurance and the Cash Fund feature. It s up to you. Highlights: Guaranteed coverage amounts for new hires. Enroll within the first 31 days from your date of hire and you re guaranteed coverage up to 3 times your base annual salary (up to $250,000). High coverage level options. Enroll anytime for over $250,000 (up to 8 times your base annual salary, not to exceed $2,500,000) by providing evidence of insurability (EOI) to MetLife, the Plan s underwriter and insurer. Family coverage. Choose from $10,000 to $100,000 (or the lesser of 2 times your base annual salary) for your eligible spouse/ domestic partner with EOI provided to MetLife, and $10,000 or $20,000 for each eligible child. Additionally, spouse/domestic partner coverage cannot exceed your coverage amount. 5 Group Universal Life Insurance (cont d) Portability. Take your coverage with you if you leave Engility Corporation for any reason, as long as the group policy is in effect. Rates for former employees and spouses/domestic partners are higher than active employee rates, and they will continue to be based on attained age and tobacco user/non-user status. Competitive Cash Fund interest rate. Earn at least 4% interest on your money each year. Access to your Cash Fund. Use the money in your Cash Fund whenever you need it, through loans and withdrawals. You don t pay federal income tax on the interest you earn until the money is withdrawn, and then, only if you have a gain that s greater than your total contributions to the Plan (for life insurance and the Cash Fund). Accelerated death benefit. Payment advance of up to 80% ($500,000 max) of your life insurance proceeds if you re terminally ill and are expected to live 12 months or less. (May vary by state.)
