Our objective is to make sure your officers are confident and well-prepared for the violence that faces our law enforcement community today. Our company was founded by current law enforcement officer and SWAT team leader, Steven S. Smith, who recognized a lack of threat response training for teachers following the Sandy Hook Elementary School massacre in Soon after developing a detailed course for this population and other civilians, Steve and his team put together programs for law enforcement officers who were facing these same threats, but at a much different angle. With a team of current and qualified law enforcement officers, SWAT team leaders and operators, and former military personnel, you can be sure our instructors are well prepared and dedicated to providing outstanding training to officers and tactical units throughout the nation. We thank you at Guardian Defense and should you have further questions regarding the information in this packet, please find our contact information on the front page. 2 S i n g l e O f f i c e r A c t i v e S h o o t e r R e s p o n s e C o u r s e
3 SOASRC Description The Single Officer Active Shooter Response Course (SOASRC) is 3-day active shooter training program open to certified law enforcement officers for the purpose of training law enforcement professionals on how to respond to an active shooter situation in a school, mall or other public area that is under attack. The course provides officers with the education and tactics needed to respond to highrisk situations by offering both interactive classroom-style training and scenario-based training exercises. SOASRC will take place at the agency s location and operators will receive maximum repetitions and practical application. The SOASRC Objectives are as follows: SOASRC Objectives To identify active shooter and active killer threats To understand one s direct role in an active shooter situation To learn critical response tactics as a solo officer or team To infiltrate the affected area as the responding officer To implement limited penetration tactics to locate and eliminate the threat To understand how to manage the scene after the threat is down To implement medical trauma training for officers On behalf of the Woodstock Police Department, I wish to thank you and your team for your hard work and efforts in helping to bring the Single Officer Response to Active Shooter Course to Woodstock. The importance of this training cannot be overstated. Your superb professionalism and skill in presenting the concepts and techniques involved in the [course] greatly enhanced the ability of all of the officers to grasp the material. This will, undoubtedly, allow the officers to be able to confront future threats, should the need arise, and win, thus saving lives. -Chief Robbie Blish, Woodstock Police Department, Woodstock, Vermont 3 S i n g l e O f f i c e r A c t i v e S h o o t e r R e s p o n s e C o u r s e
