3 Planning and Development Mission Statement Our Mission The mission of the Planning and Development Department is to preserve and enhance Rock Hill's economic vitality and quality of life through thoughtful planning and careful management of growth and development. To accomplish this we: 1) engage the community to understand and further its values, 2) communicate and collaborate with internal and external partners at all levels, and 3) provide the highest quality of customer service to citizens, businesses and investors in our community. Central to this mission is a one stop service for development in the City where every regulatory activity from the conception of the idea to the completion of the project is handled by this single department in an efficient, customer oriented manner. 6 Overview of Development Activities December 2015 Permits The total number of permits issued this month is 222, down 29% compared to December of last year. To date 1,561 permits have been issued, down 43% from this time last year. The permit numbers were high last year due to the large number of roofing and repair permits issued after severe storms damaged the area. The total number of new single family home permits issued this month is 12, down 8% from December of last year. To date 117 single family permits have been issued, down 1% from this time last year. No multi family buildings were permitted this month, down 100% from two last December. To date one multi family building has been permitted, down 94% from this time last year. No new commercial buildings were permitted this month, down 100% from last December. To date eight new commercial buildings have been permitted, down 62% from this time last year. Inspections The number of building inspections performed this month is 1155, down 19% from last December. Inspectors performed an average of 11.1 inspections per day this month. To date 8,829 inspections have been performed, up 9% from this time last year. Plans The total number of plan reviews completed this month is 242, up 14% compared to last December. To date 1,694 plans have been reviewed, up 4% from this time last year. Zoning Applications and Activities A total of 6 zoning applications were received this month, down 14% from December of last year. To date 63 zoning applications have been submitted, up 31% from this time last year. A total of 61 zoning code enforcement activities were performed this month, down 28% from last December. To date 663 code enforcement activities have been performed, down 6% from this time last year. Open for Business Program A total of 43 businesses were assisted with the OFB program this month, down 9% from last December. Three businesses completed the whole process beginning with the feasibility inspection. To date 308 businesses have been assisted, down 23% from this time last year.
