4 3. Definition of fields and access 4. Calendar List Events The calendar is also a display of school events. This can include everything from teacher inservice days to sporting events. 10 All the pending Attendance will show up on the Home Page itself and the Teachers can simply click on the Take Attendance link to record the Attendance. 11 Grading System: ATA standard Gradebook is apportioned as below for 100% for a full Academic Year. Attendance and Class Performance for 25 classes for the entire academic year = 25 Points (1 point for each class) HW for 25 class for the entire academic year = 25 Points (1 point for each class) First Semester = 15 Points Second Semester = 15 Points Final and Third Semester = 20 Points TOTAL 100 Points Note: Teachers have the ability to create additional assignments for all the Assignment Types. Currently assignments were created by ATA Super Admin only for these 5 Assignment Types, 1. Weekly HW, 2. Attendance and Class Performance, 3. First Semester Evaluation, 4. Second Semester Evaluation and 5. Third/Final Semester Evaluation. The below Assignment Types were created by ATA Super Admin, the Teachers can create new assignments based on their need and apportion points for the same. Make sure that the total points for all the assignments together does not exceed 100 points. A m e r i c a n T a m i l A c a d e m y L M S - T e a c h e r T r a i n i n g M a n u a l Page 11
12 Teachers should review their gradebook and understand how the points were apportioned for each assignment. It is a good practice to update the Assigned & Due date for the assignments for each week when it is due. For example, after the Week1 classroom session (say Sep ), you can update the Assigned date for the HW_Week1 as 09/14/2013 and Due date will be before your Week2 class room session, say 09/21/2013. In this example HW need to be completed by the Student within a week, so the teacher set a due date before next classroom session. Let us see another example for the weekly grading of Attendance & Classroom performance. These 25 assignments and grading were awarded by the Teacher based on the student s A m e r i c a n T a m i l A c a d e m y L M S - T e a c h e r T r a i n i n g M a n u a l Page 12
13 classroom performance and attendance. So the Assigned date for Week1 could be 09/14/2013, but the Due date need not be 09/21/2013, it could be the same date when the classroom session was conducted 09/14/.2013 or 1 day after 09/15/2013. This will prompt the Teacher to complete the classroom session grading for the students either on the same day or next day. The 3 Semester Evaluations assignments can be assigned a week or two before the actual exam as Assigned date and Due could be the day of the exam. It is a good practice to evaluate the semester exams on the same day of the exam and have a Parent/Teacher conference and record the detailed evaluation comments as a teacher, feedback from parents and necessary skills development for the student can be recorded. It is essential to record the comments in details so that it can be tracked and also part of the progress reports. 14 Clicking on the dropdown and select a individual assignment, to view only one assignment to grade and enter comments, see below. To view the full grade book in one view, click on the Name of the Student and you will view all the assignments in one long page. 16 Creating your own additional Assignments: ATA predefined 100 points like 25 points for HW, 25 points for Attendance & Classroom performance, First & Second Semester each 15 Points AND Final/Third semester 20 points for a TOTAL of 100 Points. Teachers can re-apportion the 100 Total Points differently, based on their need. For example, you may split the First Semester evaluation of 15 points into various skills testing like Reading/Writing/Speaking OR Alphabets/Songs/Story Telling/Comprehension etc. Similarly you may also additional assignments from any of the Assignment Types created generically and you can add the required Assignments with required points with dates. Note 1: Make sure that your total points is always 100, nothing more, nothing less. For example if you add new assignments with points, make sure to remove points from others to tally a total of 100 Points Note 2: Only Teachers can do this new assignment creation and re-apportionment of points specific to their Nilai and class. The changes made by Teachers were specific to their class only and it will not automatically applicable or visible to other Teachers for other Nilai within your own A m e r i c a n T a m i l A c a d e m y L M S - T e a c h e r T r a i n i n g M a n u a l Page 16

School Administrators does not have access to Gradebook assignments by design but they can record the grades on behalf of Teacher using Teacher Programs menu available for School Admin roles. 12. Reports Sample Report header with Logo, Student Info and Assignment info.. Note: Make sure to enter the Assigned and Due date only for the Assignments prior to today and next week due. By doing this, the Progress report will show only the assignments which is completed and due upto date or next week. This will provide a precise upto date report instead of showing all the assignments for the full academic year.
