10 A reminder of the InterEnerStat framework for harmonisa3on n These defini3ons will be guidelines to help organisa3ons to arrive to a common understanding of what is a covered by a par3cular flow or a par3cular product. n Defini3ons could be used to feed the prepara3on of the IRES manual of the UNSD. n It is well understood that no organisa3on is obligated to change its current defini3ons to adopt the common defini3ons which could result from this work. n It will be up to each organisa3on to modify (some of) its defini3ons to beber comply with the overall framework. Under no circumstances such changes should be mandatory.

17 Energy Sta3s3cs Compilers Manual (ESCM) n Intended to: l provide prac3cal guidance on compila3on of energy sta3s3cs, balances and accounts l provide more detailed guidance on recommenda3ons contained in IRES l reflect successful country prac3ces n Prepared by UNSD in coopera3on with Oslo Group and other expert groups n Is part of the implementa3on of IRES as approved by the UN Sta3s3cal Commission

20 For Chapter 4: Collec3on of country prac3ces A template was developed by the Oslo Group in coopera3on with UNSD 1. General information 1.1. Name of the statistics/topic The statistics/topic could either be a specific energy statistics (e.g. electricity production) or a topic within energy statistics (e.g. energy balances). For more information, please see Section III of the Instructions History and purpose State when the statistics were first published. Describe briefly the main purpose of producing the statistics and why it is relevant Reference period State the time period the data are collected for Frequency Specify how often the statistics are disseminated (e.g. annually, monthly, quarterly, etc.). If the statistics are not produced at regular intervals, state at what times they have been produced in the past and the main reasons behind the irregularities Dissemination Describe how the statistics are published (e.g. printed publications, online publications, online databases, etc.). If applicable, include the web address to the main website of the statistics. 47 countries submitted practices common format for countries to report and share their practices on energy statistics easier review and comparison of country practices Provides input into the ESCM 1.6. Regional level State the lowest geographical level (e.g. administrative regions, municipalities, etc.) for which the statistics are made available to the public.
