2 Page 2 of 6 Service-Learning Conference Subscribe by RSS /Share Page Tweet NobleHour announced today plans to sponsor the 23rd Annual National Service-Learning Conference, taking place April 11-14, 2012 at the Minneapolis Convention Center. The service-learning and volunteer management website will sponsor in conjunction with AARP, the Corporation for National & Community Service, the General Mills Foundation, and others. By sponsoring NSLC, we help develop youth leadership and service-learning programs, and we get a chance to connect with current and future change-makers. These are the things that inspired us to create NobleHour in the first place, said Scott Fore, managing partner of NobleHour. The conference, which is hosted by the National Youth Leadership Council and youthrive, the Upper Midwest Affiliate of PeaceJam International, stimulates service learning and leadership through allconference sessions, thought leader series, service-learning projects, and more than 100 workshops. In one of the workshop sessions, NobleHour s Director of Marketing, Pia Simeoni will host a workshop titled Go SoLoMo! The Convergence of Social Media, Location-Based Services, and Mobile in Education. I will demonstrate how social media, location-based services, and mobile technologies can create engagement in education, while pointing out tips to avoid security and privacy issues, said Simeoni. In addition to the workshops, conference goers may attend the Thought Leader Series and interact with influential speakers, such as: Kelita Bak, CEO of the National Youth Leadership Council, Joan Liptrot, Executive Director of the Institute for Global Education and Service Learning, and Eric Rowles, President and CEO of Leading to Change. While many teachers, principals, service-learning coordinators, and other faculty members attend the conference, non-profit organizations and youth also attend. In fact, there is a dedicated group of young people who plan special programming for younger attendees. Youth and adult volunteers are encouraged to take part in the numerous hands-on service-learning projects at and around the conference.
