In 2016, it increased by 4.4% when compared to the previous year. This was mainly due to the variations of +13.9% in benefit In-patient care, direct provision, non means-tested, and of +9.9% in benefit Out-patient care, other direct provision, non meanstested, with increases mainly occurring on the scheme 2, duly confirmed by the information providers of this scheme. - Disability ( ) - This function accounted for 7.2% of the total expenditure on social protection benefits in Portugal in 2016, recording a slight decrease of 0.9% in 2016 when compared to Disability pension, non means-tested - The decrease in this function was mainly due to the negative variation of this benefit (which is equivalent to 86.3% of the total of function), with -1.7% in total pension expenditure and -3.0% in the total number of their beneficiaries Rehabilitation, non means-tested - This benefit increased 282.0% in 2016 when compared to 2015 (from 4.5 MEUR in 2015 to 17.2 MEUR in 2016).
