3 Program Details Program The objective of this program is to provide professionals engaged in the petroleum industry with a better understanding of energy industry trends, risks, uncertainties, and opportunities in order to improve their decision making skills and create value for stakeholders. The program is ideal for professionals from petroleum and services companies, government agencies, regulatory entities, and academia, acting in several fields such as: exploration and development, accounting, legal, finance, fiscal, audit, planning, and business development. The topics will cover areas of corporate management, the integration of technical and financial aspects of E&P investments, assessment and mitigation of risks and uncertainties, and optimization of exploration and production portfolios. The program will consist of educational lectures, debates, and exercises designed to simulate real life situations where participants will make decisions in a competitive environment. 7 Thursday, March 6 7:30 a.m. Continental Breakfast 8:15 a.m. Practical Exercises Building An Exploration Portfolio Participants are split in 5 or 6 groups, each one representing a new oil company with the initial capital allocated to each company. Databases for exploration and development projects that are offered in bid rounds will be made available. Exploration Projects and one Field Under Development are offered in a bid round. Companies compete in Bid Round 1 to obtain participation in Exploration Projects and to acquire one Field Under Development. Drilling of the wells is simulated through an algorithm that takes into consideration the risk of the prospects. As wells are drilled, each group will be able to monitor all managerial indicators of its respective company through a proprietary portfolio management model. 8 Friday, March 7 7:30 a.m. Continental Breakfast 8:15 a.m. Practical Exercises Optimizing a Portfolio After assessing the results obtained in the previous round, each group will have an opportunity to optimize its portfolio of projects by participating in Bid Round 2. Companies will compete to obtain participation in a new round of Exploration Projects and to acquire participation in a Developed Field. Before simulating the drilling of the wells, companies have an opportunity to buy or sell participation in their projects (farmins and farmouts). After deals are closed the drilling of the prospects of Bid Round 2 is simulated. As the wells of Bid Round 2 are drilled, the value of each company will be reassessed through the proprietary portfolio management model.
