2 08-7 FINANCIAL REPORT A signed letter has been received indicating that the report was reviewed by Malcolm Galbraith ( included with the statements in Appendix A). Cathy Wackett presented the financial report for the past year and highlighted the following: Funding programmes to develop officials has been successful. Regional Grant has been cut from $1000 to $750 for this year. Proceeds from the Bell Grand Prix go to the John Groodvelt Assistance Fund for Level V grants to allow them to work at higher level meets. With the capping of the FINA list at applicants no older than 52 at the time of nomination. We need to promote younger officials to this level. NOC training program $4000 travel to designated meets $1500 travel to designated meets. Questions were received from the floor. Steve Goodwin questioned the amount in the John Grootvelt Assistance Fund; Masters Swimming and OSOA have different fiscal year ends, therefore the $ value in each others statements do not match. The interim payments do match up. At this point Dave Roza thanked Masters Swimming for their contributions and continued support of OSOA. Moved by Cathy Wackett, seconded by Debie Sullivan that the financial report be received as presented. Moved by Cathy Wackett, seconded by Mike Sweny that the 2008/9 Budget be received as presented. The incomes in our budget are always difficult to assess. Steve Goodwin confirmed that there will be contributions from the 2008 Bell Grand Prix to the Income and Chris Smith confirmed that $5/swimmer at Masters Provincials and $5 from Masters Nationals will also feature as income. Paul Corkum asked about the existence of a contingency fund and the size of the projected deficit. Mike Sweny replied with reference to our Retained Earnings of in excess of $10, 000 referred to in the balance sheet. My review included tracing revenues and expenses to the individual accounts as shown on the Income statement, and the totals to the monthly bank statements. The TD Canada Trust statement for the period ending March 31, 2008 shows a balance of $4,173.52, which agrees with the amount shown on the Balance Sheet. Short Term Investments include a One Year Cashable GIC for $10, maturing Sept. 7, 2008 and a One Year Cashable GIC for $2, maturing Feb. 21, From the information supplied, I feel the Balance Sheet and Income Statement accurately represent the transactions for the year ended March 31, Malcolm E.
