5 Chevrolet In Toledo Sept. Nov 1916 Chevrolet Central Ave Plant Founded in Toledo in 1916, Toledo Transmission employees produced truck transfer cases and transmissions for four- and six-wheel-drive military trucks throughout World War II. Toledo Transmission currently employs over 2,000 people. Hourly employees are represented by UAW Local 14. Today, team members proudly manufacture and assemble GM s front and rear-wheeldrive transmissions. GM Toledo s Joint Partnership Process with UAW Local 14 works effectively for the benefit of its employees, company, customers and community. Historically, the plant has a longstanding reputation of quality, productivity and performance. General Motors began operations in Toledo, Ohio, in 1916; the Chevrolet Motor Division directed original operations. GM purchased the current property in 1956 and, after halting operations at the Central Avenue site, and Alexis Road opened for business in Pomeroy Philatelic Society 2016 also marks the 130th anniversary of the first stamp club in Toledo. On May 6th 1886 the first Toledo stamp club, the Pomeroy Philatelic Society, was established. Successor clubs were the Toledo Philatelic Society, and the present Stamp Collectors Club of Toledo. 6 SHOW CARD The Toledo Stamp Expo 16 show card will commemorate the 100th anniversary of Chevrolet Powertrain operation in Toledo. The cover was designed by and shows the 1916 Chevrolet plant on Central Ave. and a 1916 Chevrolet. The card is franked with the 37cent Chevrolet Corvette stamp Scott 3933 and the 12 cent Stanley Steamer Scott 2132 The 6x8 Chevrolet Show Cards are $4.00 each and available at the reception table.
