1 ENSENADA TRIP INFO PACKET Location: Ensenada, Mexico Trip Overview Calvary has partnered with Mt. Zion Church and Pastor Luis and Mimi Ojeda in Ensenada, Mexico to help engage their community for Christ. Mt. Zion is a light and place of refuge for many in the community of Bella Vista. Our teams help support the ministries of the church through construction projects, Vacation Bible Schools, Shoebox Christmas parties, men s and women s ministries and help with their day care ministry. We also help support Casa Shekina, a residential home for Kumiai Indian girls that gives them access to better education and spiritual formation. These are great introductory mission trips for individuals or families! Ministry Partner: Pastors Mimi and Luis Ojeda founded Mt. Zion Church by their work of household visitation, evangelistic crusades, and discipleship. They currently opened Casa Shekina, which houses Kumiai Indian girls giving them an opportunity to attend school and become involved in the local church. US / Mexico Border: o It is typical to wait 2 hours (potentially more) when crossing back into the United States at the Tijuana border crossing. Passports are required and US customs officials will often search vehicles. This is not the time to become the class clown to the customs officials.

2 Transportation: o Teams will take Calvary vans. Driving personal vehicles is discouraged and must be approved by Calvary Missions Staff. Directions to Mt. Zion can be a bit tricky and we do not want cars getting lost in Mexico. If you get approval to take a personal vehicle you will need to purchase Mexican car insurance. It can be purchased online using Baja Bound. Costs are between $30-$60 depending on the value of the vehicle. Application Process & Deposit o Fill out the Short-term Trip application online at calvarycc.org/short-term-trips o You may be contacted by the Team Leader for an interview to review your application and discuss your participation on the trip. This may be done in person or by phone depending on the Team Leader s discretion. o Once approved by the team leader, you may make the full trip payment. You will be ed a trip support page where you can pay by credit/debit card or check made payable to Calvary Community Church with [Ensenada #824] in memo. Include a sticky note with your name on it indicating the check is designated toward your trip fees. Vaccines: o No additional vaccines required beyond those recommended for the US o You can visit your doctor or the local Wellness Mart to have all vaccines administered. Passports & Visas: o Passports are required for any individual 16 years or older. Original birth certificates can be used for anyone 15 years or younger. o To obtain a passport, you will need a certified birth certificate (not the hospital record), two passport photos, and a driver s license. In addition, you will need to pick up a passport application from the post office and turn in the requested information to the postal clerk for processing with the US Passport Agency. You should allow 6-8 weeks before your trip for your passport to arrive. o For further information about passport visit o Visa: No visa is required.

3 Fingerprinting/Background Check: o Fingerprinting/Background Checks: For overseas trips involving work with children, fingerprinting and a background check are required for each trip participant 18 years or older. This service is provided at Calvary every third Sunday of the month between 8:30am-1:00pm. Contact Jaime Chambers at jaimec@calvarycc.org or to book your appointed time. The background check is for criminal history only. The process only takes around ten minutes and Calvary covers the cost Travel Insurance: o In addition to your own personal health insurance policy, travel health insurance will be purchased for each trip participant on international trips with a $200,000 policy limit that is included in the trip fees. Additional coverage limits up to $1,000,000 are available to be purchased upon request at the trip participant s expense (rates dependent on age & term). This insurance provides major medical benefits, emergency medical evacuation and repatriation coverage that your primary health insurance may not cover for overseas claims. Managed Missions Online Software: o Each Team Member will be ed a log-in and password to our Managed Missions online program that will allow you to track your financial support, see significant due dates and the team meeting schedule, as well as what goals or tasks you still have to complete for the trip. It is a good idea to add the Managed Missions website to your favorites list on your web browser once you receive your log-in and password so that you can access it easily and remember where it is.
