1 Michigan Law Enforcement Youth Advisory Committee State Competition 2017 WHEN: April 28th-April 30th, 2017 WHERE: Fort Custer Army National Guard Training Center th St Augusta, MI COST: $80.00/EXPLORER $50.00/ADULT $50.00/POST FEE (Due at time of registration-april 1, 2017) 36 TEAM LIMIT Minimum of 3 Explorers/team Maximum 5 Explorers/Team (ONLY 4 participants/scenario) **Multiple teams will be permitted** Explorers will compete in all 4 of the following events: Accident Investigation Domestic Violence Intervention Building Searches Traffic/Felony Stops Certificates will be given to all participants. Awards will be given to the first three places of each event. Governor s Cup is awarded to the overall winner on Sun, April 30 th at 10:30 am. Registration packets for your first team are due NO LATER than April 1 st, Due to the high volume of teams, Team 1 will be registered. After the registration date, if the post has a second to participate, they will be registered in the order I receive the packet. After all second teams are in, then I will add third teams. I will send you an confirmation the day I receive your registration and after if you have multiple teams. If you do not receive an from me by April 8 th, 2017, please contact me. An invoice will be provided in the showing the balance due. $50.00 is due by April 1 (closing registration), the remaining balance is due on April 28 at check-in. Please don t send the full amount, multiple teams are not guaranteed. WE WILL BE OFFERING T-SHIRTS FOR COMPETITION, AS ALWAYS. SHIRTS WILL BE PRE- ORDER ONLY, PLEASE ORDER AND PAY WHEN RETURNING REGISTRATION. THE COST FOR THE SHIRTS WILL BE $100 Breakfast/Lunch will be provided. LET US KNOW OF ANY FOOD ALLERGIES when registering. Advisors are responsible for dinner on Friday and Saturday.

5 MICHIGAN LAW ENFORCEMENT YOUTH ADVISORY COMMITTEE 2017 STATE COMPETITION Advisors: We have made some changes in the last couple of years, if you have any questions please feel free to contact me, Amber Weber at (810) or Registration will take place on Friday, April 28 th from 4:00pm-9:00pm. Any unregistered posts will not be able to stay on base Friday night and will need to be registered prior to competitions on Saturday. Friday night-lights out at 10:00pm. Saturday night-lights out at 11:00pm. Enclosed is a packing list, please make a copy for your Explorers. Pack according to the weather. Personal checks will not be accepted. Explorer Post Checks/Municipality Checks/Money Orders/Certified Checks will only be accepted. If your post is unable to fill a complete team, you have the option to utilize other posts Explorers. It s the advisors decision of which dept. to carry the team under. Room inspection is on Sunday at 9:00am. There will be 4 advisors selected to be responsible for room inspections. The awards ceremony WILL NOT START until the rooms have been checked by housing. If there are any disciplinary problems with Explorers, the post will be disqualified and asked to leave the competition. No one of the opposite sex will be allowed in the open bays AT ANY TIME- any violation is an immediate disqualification. Non competing Explorers are encouraged to come. It will be the advisors responsibility to make sure their Explorers are accounted for at all times. Posts will compete in all 4 events and a written test (used only for a tie-breaker) 2015 UD-10 will be used for accidents. Advisors will be required to take their posts off base for entertainment on Saturday night. Fully marked patrol vehicles are in desperate need for scenarios. It would be greatly appreciated if every department participating bring up at least one vehicle. There will be NO personal cameras or cell phones allowed in the scenarios. We will attempt, but CANNOT guarantee that we will be able to provide it.
