4 YOU ARE INVITED TO A TECHNICAL PRESENTATION ON DESIGN AND SAFETY OF EXERCISE EQUIPMENT BY FRANK J SMITH Frank J. Smith, owner of Elite Fitness Consulting Services, has over 40 years of practical experience in the Fitness and Sport Equipment industries. Mr. Smith has an unparalleled background in Equipment and Facility Design. He has worked with engineering and research and development departments to develop new fitness products and improve/modify existing fitness products. He served on the President's Council on Physical Fitness and Sports for 7 years, developing, organizing, implementing, and supervising six national symposiums on "Employee Health & Fitness. Mr. Smith was also invited by the White House to give a presentation to 650 medical doctors during the "Fitness in America - The Medical View" symposium. The author of several books on the subject of Exercise and Fitness, Mr. Smith has facilitated fitness training clinics and workshops on numerous occasions in the US and many other countries. He is an expert witness in legal matters relating to fitness training, fitness equipment, and product safety. 6 2017 Greater San Diego Science and Engineering Fair Winners The junior division winner was Peter Eckmann from Stella Maris Academy. His project was entitled Airfoil Optimization by Applying Evolutionary Algorithms to Computational Fluid Dynamics. The senior division winner was Paul Gauvreau from Canyon Crest Academy. 7 Section Awards Banquet Forty one (41) attended the Banquet. In addition to the Science and Engineering Fair Winners that were recognized, we also recognized two members at their 25 th and 50 th membership anniversary.
