3 Structure of the Panchayati Raj Zilla Parishad: It is also called District Panchayat. It has an advisory role in the panchayati raj system.it includes many Panchayat Samitis in it. P a n c h a y t i R a j h a s t h r e e t i e r s Duties: Panchayat Samiti This performs the role of monitoring the plans that are executed at the village level. A panchayat samiti has many gram panchayats in it. Duties Gram Panchayat The set of people who actually implements the plans in the villages. Duties
4 Gram Panchayat The main objective of the village Panchayat is to improve the condition of the villagers and to make them self-sufficient Who is part of the Gram Panchayat? Who is a ward member? Duties of Gram Panchayat Sources of Income
5 Gram Sabha The Gram Sabha is a meeting of all adults who live in the area covered by a Panchayat. This area could be only one village or a few villages. The major role of the Gram Sabha is to: It plays an important role in keeping an eye on the elected members and in making them answerable to the people who elected them. In the Gram Sabha, all important issues regarding the development of a village are discussed and Gram Panchayat works according to the agenda laid down in and passed by the Gram Sabha Attendance All the members should attend Gram Sabha because this practice will automatically educate the participants and they would learn the procedure for calling the meeting.
6 Below Poverty Line (BPL_ - Includes people who earn the bare minimum income to just fulfil their basic food requirements; it does not account for other essentials uch as health care and education We have to ensure there is better participation in the gram sabha meeting to While preparing village development plans, focus should be given for the upliftment of people belonging to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Backward classes, Women and other weaker sections Apart from traditional way of notifying the conduct of Gram Sabha, the following methods can also be adopted for the same for wide publicity: display of wall posters, house to house canvassing, propagating through cultural troupes electronic and print media and public
