From my standpoint as Governor, we as a Key Club District have made significant progress over the course of the past two months. grow in service. Our District has devoted the time to host a total of five Fall Leadership Rallies throughout Illinois, one of which you may have attended. These afternoons of leadership seminars, team building and Key Club service are meant to better prepare club leaders like yourself for the upcoming year. Needless to say, if you were able to attend, you were able to Much like Fall Leadership Rallies, an even larger celebration of service is coming up in only 5 months. That s right- the 2014 Convention. If you haven t heard, this year s theme will be Service, Inc. Care Like a Monster at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Springfield, IL from February 28 th March 2 nd, An accumulation of both registration and rooming, you can attend DCON 2014 for only $200. This price includes all meals, rooming, speakers and much more over the memorable weekend. We re proud to announce that our keynote speaker will be Key Club International President Raeford Penny. Check for a link on iikeyclub.org this winter for a link to register your Key Club for convention. I hope to see you there. With your help as a devoted member, we ve been able to charter our 7th Key Club of the year and so much more. All of our progress could not be possible without the continual devotion of everyone here in the I-I District. I wish you the best of luck this coming year. I ve had an opportunity to hear about many of the incredible projects and fundraisers that are going on at so many schools. The difference that we are making in our communities and around the world is truly immeasurable. So how do we make an even larger impact? How can we accomplish more? How can we take service to the next level? Start by communicating with your District Board members! We have lots of great information on how to start new projects, increase club attendance, fundraise creatively, and make sure that students are enjoying the experience. We re here to help develop every club that means yours. A simple to your Lieutenant Governor that asks, Do you know of any volunteer opportunities in our area? could lead to an annual partnership with a local nursing home, food pantry, or animal shelter. If you don t know who to ask, start with me. I would be more than glad to help connect you with leadership in your area that will have the skills to help. Once a year, we ask that all clubs submit a Club Officer Roster or a Club Officer Directory that allows us to communicate with the leadership from each school. All we need is simple information like name, position, , and phone number. Then, youth leaders on the District Board have the ability to relay important information regarding events, fundraisers, and training. On the following page is a list of schools that have submitted the roster for the school year. If your school isn t on that list no worries. Just go to iikeyclub.org/forms and click on the Club Officer Roster. This is a downloadable excel spreadsheet template. Just take a few minutes, fill in your club information, and it back to me that s all there is to it! Keep up the great work and I look forward to seeing all of you in Springfield at DCON 2014! Sincerely, Graham Novak

I hope you are all doing well! I would first like to congratulate you on all the fantastic service you ve been providing this year. I ve seen some outstanding projects and fundraisers going on in the past few months and it makes me so proud to be a member of our great district! Just a quick reminder, the next club monthly report is due December 10 th for month of November. Your monthly reports are a huge asset to the district board and are also an excellent way to track your progress as a club. It s a vital communication link between the club and district level, therefore it s really important your club submits all monthly reports! If you are unsure whether your club any reports missing or have any questions regarding reporting, please contact your Lieutenant Governor or me and we d be happy to help! Be sure submit any missed reports back to April of this year. We have a goal of 80% reporting for the district for the Key Club year, and we need your help to complete that goal! Recently, a few updates and additions were made to the monthly report form. To go along with the new report form, I created a powerpoint tutorial going through the different sections and steps of submitting reports. If you do not have this powerpoint and would like it, please send me an and I can get it to you! These fall and winter months are really the time of the year where the bulk of our service is completed; so don t forget to get out there and serve your homes, schools, and communities! Let me know if there is anything I can help you with and keep up the amazing work! Yours in Service, Natalie Walgren

7 Page 7 Hello Mighty I-I District! So it s that time of the year once again; DUES SEASON! YAY!!! Currently we have 61 clubs that have paid with a total membership of 3,444. This is a remarkable accomplishment and I d just like to simply say thank you for all your hard work. November is the last full month for dues collection, so if your club hasn t sent in an invoice yet, please do so as soon as possible! The final dues deadline is December 1st, which should give your club enough wiggle room for it to be processed by International. Please be sure to communicate any challenges sending dues with your advisor, Lt. Governor, or me. My is acp.alex@yahoo.com and I will usually reply within one day, so do not hesitate to contact me. As we approach the end of the first half of the year, it s important to start planning for the second half. District Convention registration will be released in the coming months, and fundraising for District Convention can start as early as this month! By fundraising for District Convention, members who are unable to pay the full price can pay a reduced cost, which can better incentivize members to attend. This is a great way for clubs to increase convention attendance. Remember that District Convention is a great way for members to get inspired, celebrate an amazing year of service, and learn more about Key Club in this eye-opening experience. Remember to stay motivated and keep pushing until the end. We have already conquered the first half of the year, and it s important to maintain composure to efficiently accomplish your personal, academic, and Key Club goals. Remember to take time for yourself, step back and take a breath, and then go back to complete tasks one at a time. Lieutenant Governor elections will be occurring in the next month, so prepare yourself by looking a the clubs in your district, district and international bylaws, and also the requirements your district ha said you need to meet to be a Lieutenant Governor. The second is print applications to fill them out, then scan them into the computer and them to Mr. Hall. The third is through fax: print and fill out, then fax them back to Mr. Hall. At this point, the only way to submit District Awards Applications is traditionally through mail. However, we are working on finding ways to facilitate their reception electronically, so stay tuned! The Annual Achievement Report is an invaluable tool for the I-I District and Key Club International, as well as enter you club for a chance to win awards at both DCON and ICON. Do you have a passion for technology? Would you like to become a part of the I-I District Board? Are you willing to use some extra time to serve the I-I District? If you have said yes to any of those questions, then you should apply to become a Technology Chair. The Technology Chair is a vital part of the of Key Club International. As the current Tech Chair, I m having a blast because of my passion for technology and service. Through this position, I have been able to give back to an organization that has helped me grow. Sometimes the work can be tedious, but you do learn a lot from this position. If you are a Tech Chair, you manage iikeyclub.org, you manage the various Google resources the District uses, you help fellow board members with their technological needs, etc. This role can be demanding and relaxing, both at the same time. But, I promise you that this position is really exciting, and you get to meet a lot of new people from around the I-I District. Are you interested in becoming the Tech Chair now? Then there is an application process that you must follow to become one. After the 2014 District Convention, the newly elected Governor will compile a Technology Chair Application to determine the best fit for this position. This application will be sent to Lieutenant Governors and schools in the middle of March. A candidate for this position must fill the application and it to the new District Governor by May 1 st, After this date, the Governor will consider each candidate and decide on the best one. If you are chosen, then you will be receiving a message from the Governor about how to proceed on being installed as the Technology Chair. I recommend that if you submit an application, then please make it as thorough as possible so that the Governor can understand both your strengths and weaknesses. The Governor will discuss the top candidates with our Mr. Jarrod Echols, our Technology Advisor. If you are chosen as the Tech Chair, you will be working with Mr. Echols throughout the year to understand and fulfill your duties. If you have any questions please feel free to contact me! You can me at techchair@iikeyclub.org or you can call or text me at I hope to see many people apply for this position because of its various benefits. Yours in Service, Akhil Sarikonda
