3 AGENDA ITEM REQUEST FORM ITEM: The Panama City Police Department is requesting a budget amendment and approval for $29,500 of state forfeiture monies to be utilized to purchase two (2) dual purpose certified K-9 s and two (2) K-9 Kennel systems. BACKGROUND INFORMATION: State forfeiture funds may be utilized for equipment costs associated with providing additional equipment or expertise as well as aiding in crime prevention. The department currently has no police K-9 s and frequently has to utilize other agencies resources to assist. DEPARTMENT HEAD RECOMMENDATION: Recommendation is for authorization to create a budget amendment in the amount of $29,500 to account #56400 and further recommend authorization to expend those dollars to purchase two (2) dual purpose certified K-9 s and two (2) K-9 Kennel systems. 5 AGENDA ITEM REQUEST FORM ITEM: Consideration of a budget amendment and approval to purchase two (2) marked police sport utility vehicles off the Florida Sheriff Association s state contract and request authorization to accept Mears Motor Leasing as the finance agent and coordinator for the up fitting of these vehicles with specified equipment. BACKGROUND INFORMATION: The Panama City Police Department is requesting authorization to purchase two (2) marked police sport utility vehicles off the Florida Sheriff s association contract and to engage Mears Motor Leasing to arrange for the vehicles to be equipped as specified. Mears is to deliver complete turn-key packages with a total purchase price not to exceed $90,000 and estimated lease payment not to exceed $19,600 per year for five (5) years. We have received insurance proceeds from two totaled police vehicles which exceeds the initial annual lease payment. The remainder of the payments will be covered in the police budget for FY 2017 FY 2020 with a final payment due of $1.00 per vehicle. These vehicles will be utilized as marked police K-9 vehicles. 6 RESOLUTION NO A RESOLUTION PROVIDING FOR THE AMENDMENT OF THE APPROVED FISCAL YEAR BUDGET FOR THE CITY OF PANAMA CITY, FLORIDA FOR THE PURCHASE OF TWO MARKED POLICE SPORT UTILITY VEHICLES. WHEREAS, the local municipal budget for the fiscal year 2016 was approved on the 22nd day of September, 2015; and WHEREAS, the public hearing on said budget has been held as advertised; and WHEREAS, it is desired to amend said approved budget; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF PANAMA CITY, FLORIDA, that the following amendments to the approved budget of fiscal year 2016 be made: INCREASE GENERAL APPROPRIATIONS $19,600 PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED by the City Commission of the City of Panama City, Florida, at its regular meeting, on this 26th day of July, CITY OF PANAMA CITY, FLORIDA Attest: By: Greg Brudnicki, Mayor T.
