4 4 Our history Established in 1959, the IDB is the oldest and largest of the regional multilateral development banks Provides more development finance to Latin America and the Caribbean than any other multi- or bilateral institution 48 member countries including Israel, 26 borrowing member countries
5 5 Our role The IDB combines financial resources with knowledge to help fight poverty and inequality and promote sustainable development.

8 The IDB has two modalities to support development 8 Sovereignguaranteed (SG) program Lending with a sovereign guarantee Technical assistance to governments Non-sovereign guaranteed (NSG) program Lending and guarantees to private sector entities and state-owned enterprises without a sovereign guarantee Technical assistance to private and public companies
